World Doula Week

This is our week for sharing the love
Talking about what we do, and why we do it

Here we pride ourselves in the quality care and support we give every client that employs us

We become friends, birth partners, educators, warriors if required, DIY experts with furniture, interior designers creating the perfect calm environment, music DJs helping you with your play list, masseurs for the aches and pains , nutritionists with the plan for the marathon day, your personal therapist to talk about anything without judgment, your navigation system through the entire journey from the day of booking.

If this is something you think you need ….
DM one of us and we can have a chat

Home birth ♥️ It’s not for everyone but for those who feel more comfortable at home it can be soooo lovely. The oxytocin can flow 😍

Apart from the researched benefits of less intervention and less pain relief, it’s also ...

♥️ Your home, your rules
♥️ Your freedom of movement, shower, bath, bedroom, toilet, ball, your pool (all to yourself), sofa, bed
♥️ Your food and drink, fresh, cold or warm
♥️ Your choice of partners, children, family, pets 🐶
♥️ Your sounds, your sights, your smells
♥️ Your bed to snuggle up in, with your tea, toast and new born 👶

When will my milk come in after birth?

Women start producing milk from around the middle of pregnancy. For most mothers, milk will “come in” (increase in quantity and begin the change from colostrum to mature milk) between 2 and 5 days after birth.

The temptation to quit when you are giving “everything” will always be there. During labour there is a surge of adrenaline, known as transition, just before birth, the temptation to give up is overpowering.... we need all the encouragement possible to carry on! Then after birth there is a wonderful release of hormones which results in a high and a surge of love for the new born baby ❤️

Breastfeeding not only provides all the nutrition a newborn needs, but it naturally provides all the other comforts; the wonderful skin to skin, warmth, security of being held close, and the reassuring presence of a mother.

There is a big adjustment over the first few months, from refining and developing all their senses and controlling reflexes, to learning how to respond to you and your partner. The mental and physical strides your baby takes during the first 3 months are just as important to their development as in your womb.

The 4th trimester is also a time for your baby to get used to the variety of noises, lights, smells, sounds and sensations of the outside world. Moving from the familiar comfort of your warm, dark and quiet womb, to a noisy, bright and often cold environment, is a major change for your baby. By offering plenty of love and support in the first 3 months, you can make this transition easier.
