When work doesn’t feel like work!

27/07/2026

To the adult children reading this:

Have you noticed Mum or Dad's feet looking a bit neglected lately?

Maybe they've mentioned they "can't reach" or they "don't want to bother anyone."

The truth is, cutting toenails becomes genuinely difficult with age. Reduced flexibility, weaker hands, and poorer eyesight make it tricky – and even risky.

And it's not just about appearance. Poorly cut nails can lead to ingrown toenails, infections, and even falls if feet become painful.

You don't have to do it yourself. And they don't have to struggle.

I'm a mobile foot health practitioner based right here in St Austell. I visit people in their own homes, so there's no travel, no waiting rooms, and no stress.

I'm also a former carer with experience in elderly and hospice care – so I know how to be gentle, patient, and respectful.

If you've been worrying about your parent's feet, let me take that worry away.

One of the most common things I hear from new clients is:

"I just can't reach my feet anymore."

Or:

"I tried to cut my own nails and made them worse."

And honestly, it breaks my heart a little. Because it's not their fault.

As we age, a few things happen:

🦡 Reach becomes difficult – bending down can be painful or even risky for balance.

πŸ‘€ Eyesight changes – it's harder to see clearly, especially around the corners of nails.

βœ‹ Hand strength decreases – arthritis or weakness makes it tough to grip clippers safely.

🧱 Nails thicken – what was once an easy trim becomes a real struggle.

So what happens? People either:

Put it off (sometimes for months)
Try anyway and end up with jagged edges, ingrown nails, or cuts that don't heal well
That's where I come in.

As a mobile foot health practitioner, I visit you in your own home. You stay in your favourite chair, and I take care of your feet gently, thoroughly, and safely.

No stretching. No straining. No worrying about making a mistake.

You deserve comfortable feet – and you don't have to struggle alone.

If you're finding it harder to look after your own feet, or if you're worried about someone who is, please reach out. I'm local, I'm gentle, and I understand.

"Did you know?"

Did you know that walking barefoot on hot surfaces can burn your feet without you even realising it?

If you have reduced sensation in your feet (common with diabetes or circulation issues), you might not feel the heat until damage is done.

Always wear something on your feet outdoors – even in the garden.

And if you're worried about your feet this summer, I'm just a message away.

One question I get asked a lot: "What actually happens when you visit for the first time?"

Let me walk you through it. πŸ‘‡

Before I arrive – We'll have already had a quick chat (by phone or message) about what you need help with, any health conditions I should know about, and a convenient time for you.

When I get to your door – I'll introduce myself, we'll have a chat about your health, lifestyle, medical history and go through some simple paperwork. If you have a prescription handy then that's great. No rushing.

The foot check – I'll look at your feet (just sitting comfortably in your usual chair), check your nails, skin, circulation, and any areas that are sore or hard.

The treatment – Depending on what you need, that might include cutting and filing thickened nails, removing hard skin or corns, moisturising dry areas, and giving you simple advice to keep your feet healthy between visits.

Afterwards – I'll clean everything up, chat about when you'd like to book again (if you want to), and you'll be left with feet that feel cleaner, smoother, and more comfortable.

The whole visit usually takes between 30 and 45 minutes. And you never need to leave your favourite chair.

Still nervous? That's okay. My background as a former carer means I'm used to putting people at ease. You're in safe, gentle hands.

If you or someone in your family has been putting off a foot appointment – let me come to you.

πŸ‘£ Diabetes Week 8–14 June: Don’t wait for a foot problem to start hurting

Living with diabetes means your feet need extra care β€” even if they feel β€œfine” right now.
Reduced sensation and poor blood flow can hide serious issues until it’s too late.

Let's face it. How many of us can actually get down to have a really good look at our feet. Catching a problem early can make all the difference.

That’s where I come in.

I will visit you at home regularly to take the worry away for you or a loved one to provide:

βœ… Professional foot check
βœ… Corn, callus & nail care
βœ… Personalised advice to prevent ulcers & infections
βœ… Regular visits to suit your individual needs
βœ… St Austell and surrounding villages covered
