💛 If you could sit on this bench and talk to anyone for one hour, who would it be?

Maybe it would be someone you miss dearly.
Someone you wish you could hear laugh again.
Someone you’d love to tell one more story to, or simply sit beside in comfortable silence.

In every difficult situation there will be two things that endure.

Grief and love.
Darkness and light.
Despair and hope.

They will oppose each other in a seemingly constant battle to come out on top, and where one will be gentle and quiet, the other will be loud and rough.

But remember that when you feel overwhelmed by grief
or swallowed by darkness
or swamped by despair...
they do not define you.

Because their opposites are enduring too.
The love is persevering,
the light is growing and
the hope is holding on.

No, you are not the darkness and despair that threaten to break you.
You are the love and the light and the hope.

And just as the spring returns after winter and the night gives way to day, you can rest, you can rise and you can shine again.
And you will. In your own time.

Yes, you will endure.

And you will make it through.

A gentle word can shift the day
When hearts are feeling low
It’s proof that hope can start again
With just a small hello

A smile can bloom where storms have been
It costs so little, too
It ripples out through stranger’s hearts
And changes grey to blue

We hurry past each other’s pain -
Forget the simplest graces
But kindness lingers patiently
In calm and friendly faces

It isn’t grand or loud or fierce
It needs not even words
Just gentle nods and listening ears
To tell us we are heard

‘Cause hands outstretched, a door held wide
Can start a brighter chain
Then every spark of kindness
Becomes sunshine through the rain

So let us tend this gentle spark
Though times may rush or race
For kindness grows in quiet acts
And lights the darkest place

Find me in the morning
And in the afternoon
Find me in the evening
Find me underneath the moon

See me in the sunrise
And when daylight turns to dark
See me in the twilight
See me underneath the stars

Hear me in the chorus
That is sung each day at dawn
Hear me in the wind
And hear me underneath the storm

Feel me when you’re all alone
And in a busy crowd
Feel me in the rainfall
Feel me underneath the clouds

Yes you can always see me
Though I’ll look a little different
And you can always hear me
If you stop awhile and listen

So close your eyes in moments
When you long to feel me near
Then place your hand upon your heart
And you can find me here
