You're not too sensitive. You're not too much. You're not broken. Here's what's actually going on.

1. People-pleasing: Saying yes when you mean no isn't a personality flaw. It's a trauma response. For a lot of us, keeping everyone else happy once felt like the only way to stay safe.

2. Shutting down in conflict: Going quiet, or blanking, when things get tense isn't coldness. It's your nervous system doing what it learned to do a long time ago - protect you by making you small.

3. Struggling to trust your instincts: Second-guessing every decision isn't indecisiveness. If your feelings were dismissed or argued away for long enough, of course you stopped trusting them.

4. Always being "the strong one": Finding it almost impossible to ask for help isn't independence. It's what happens when needing something once went unanswered, or made things worse.

4. Overexplaining yourself: Justifying every choice, every boundary, every "no" isn't insecurity. It's a habit built by a version of you who once needed a good enough reason to be allowed anything.

None of this means something is wrong with you. It means something happened to you, and you adapted to survive it. If you want to understand more about why you respond the way you do, explore our course collection here https://chrysalis-centre.learnworlds.com/courses - courses built to help you understand yourself, at your own pace.

Crisis is not the end of your story. It's often the beginning of a different one.

When everything falls apart... grief, the unsteady ground that can follow leaving an abusive relationship, a body or mind that no longer feels like your own... the panic is real. The isolation is real. But you're not alone.

You don't have to figure this out by yourself. You don't have to be ready for counselling, or live in St Helens, or wait for the "right" moment. You can start exactly as you are.

You get to choose how you move forward. Not fast. Not on anyone else's timeline. On yours.

You are not broken. You are in transition. And transition is where growth lives.

Today in Craft & Chat we've been doing wind chime painting and making and wanted to share a few examples created by our talented community. Some also opted to do card making, and I'm sure you'll agree those look fantastic too!

If you fancy joining us for a future Craft & Chat session (1.30pm - 3.30pm every Tuesday), join the Chrysalis community using our self referral form (link in bio).

Already a member? You can just come along on the day.

A big thank you to Terry for leading a free tai chi session at Chrysalis! 🙏

The ladies had such a lovely time moving, breathing, and relaxing together. Terry generously gave his time for free, and that kindness meant so much to everyone who took part.

Thank you, Terry, for sharing your skills with our community! đź’ś

If that hits, keep reading.

You did everything right. You held it together. You kept going. And you're still here, 3am, chest tight, wondering why you can't just feel okay. Not broken. Not in crisis. Just... not quite right.

That quiet hum underneath everything? The sadness or guilt that follows you into your evenings? The rest that never feels restful? That's not a character flaw. That's what unprocessed survival looks like.

We offer a course collection built for exactly this situation. The one after the hard part. The one where you're stable enough to finally look at what you've been carrying. No intake forms. No explaining yourself.

Just a quiet, private online space to start understanding why you move through the world the way you do, and what's possible when you stop 'just coping' and start to reconnect with who you really are.

Last week, Hazel Snell, High Sheriff of Merseyside, came to see us.

She met some of the women we support, sat with us at Chrysalis Centre, and heard first-hand about the work made possible by the High Sheriff and Merseyside Police Charitable Fund... funding that's gone directly into our work with domestic abuse victims and survivors.

It really matters when people in positions like Hazel's take the time to see our work up close, not just read about it.

Thank you, Hazel, for visiting, and for standing behind women here in St Helens.

What an incredible day at our Summer Fair yesterday!

Thank you to everyone who came along, browsed the stalls, played tombola, bought raffle tickets, chatted over coffee and cake, and took home some lovely treats for yourselves or your loved ones.

A huge thank you to the wonderful Beverley of , who ran a raffle that raised an incredible ÂŁ200 for us. And to Cheryl and Louise, who baked the most delicious cakes for us all to enjoy.

Thank you too to all of our brilliant stallholders and volunteers, who gave their time and talent to make the day what it was.

Every penny raised helps us keep supporting women here in St Helens as they find the strength to heal, grow and thrive. We hope you all had a lovely time... Thank you for being part of it đź’ś
