π You donβt have to be alone to feel lonely
Loneliness Awareness Week 15 - 21 June 2026
While loneliness isn't an official pandemic, many public health experts now regard it as one of the most significant social challenges of our time. That's why initiatives like Loneliness Awareness Week matter. They help us talk openly about loneliness and encourage meaningful connection.
Loneliness is something most of us experience at some point, yet it's often the feeling we talk about the least. Why do we feel embarrassment about finding ourselves lonely?
This Loneliness Awareness Week, I came across a simple but powerful three-step approach from the campaign:
1οΈβ£ Acknowledge it - loneliness is a human emotion, not a personal failure.
2οΈβ£ Identify what you need - more meaningful conversations, regular social contact, community, support, or simply feeling understood.
3οΈβ£ Take action - reach out, join a group, start a conversation, or make space for connection in your day.
The reminder that resonated most with me is that connection doesn't always have to come from big gestures. Sometimes a small conversation, a message, or a simple check-in can make a real difference.
If someone comes to mind while reading this, why not send them a message today?
