✨ How long should my hair be before an electrolysis appointment? ✨

This is a simple but really important question that can make a big difference to your treatment results.

💡 The general rule: the hair needs to be long enough for your electrologist to see and grasp it with tweezers. We recommend around 2-3 worth of hair growth.

Because electrolysis targets each individual hair follicle, your practitioner needs a clear, visible hair to treat effectively and accurately.

⏳ If the hair is too short:
✔️ It may be difficult to isolate the follicle
✔️ Treatment can take longer
✔️ Some hairs may be missed in that session

🌿 If the hair is at the right length:
✔️ Your electrologist can work more efficiently
✔️ More precise treatment is possible
✔️ Better overall clearance over time

💬 Your practitioner will give you personalised guidance on exactly when to stop shaving before your appointment, as this can vary depending on the area being treated and your individual hair growth.

✨ Consistency matters more than perfection, but following pre-treatment advice helps you get the best possible results from every session.

If you’re ever unsure, it’s always better to ask before your appointment rather than guess.

✨ Salicylic Acid: Acne's Worst Nightmare ✨

Salicylic acid is a powerful yet effective ingredient that is especially beneficial for those dealing with breakouts, congestion, or oily skin.

Unlike many other exfoliating ingredients, salicylic acid is oil-soluble, which means it can pe*****te deeper into the pores to help clear out excess sebum and dead skin cells. This makes it particularly effective for targeting blackheads, whiteheads, and blemishes at the source.

💧 Helps unclog and clear pores
Salicylic acid works by breaking down the buildup inside pores, helping to reduce congestion and prevent future breakouts. Over time, this can lead to clearer-looking skin and fewer visible imperfections.

💧 Helps reduce the appearance of breakouts
With consistent use, salicylic acid can help calm active blemishes and reduce the frequency of breakouts. It supports a clearer complexion by keeping pores clean and less likely to become blocked.

💧 Helps refine skin texture
By gently exfoliating within the pores and on the skin’s surface, salicylic acid can help improve roughness and uneven texture, leaving the skin looking smoother and more refined.

💧 Helps control excess oil
Salicylic acid can help regulate oil build-up, making it a great option for those with oily or combination skin who struggle with shine and congestion throughout the day.

When introducing salicylic acid into your routine, it’s best to start slowly and build up usage as your skin adjusts. Always follow with hydration and daily SPF to keep the skin balanced and protected.

With regular use, salicylic acid can be a game-changer for clearer, more balanced-looking skin.

✨ Can I wear makeup after facial electrolysis? ✨

This is a really important aftercare question, especially for anyone balancing treatment with work, social plans, or gender-affirming routines.

💡 The short answer: it’s best to wait.

After facial electrolysis, your skin has just been through a precise treatment targeting individual hair follicles. Even though the skin may look calm on the surface, it’s still temporarily more sensitive and open to irritation.

⏳ We usually recommend avoiding makeup for at least 48 hours after treatment.

Why?

✔️ Helps reduce irritation
✔️ Lowers risk of infection
✔️ Supports faster, calmer healing
✔️ Prevents clogging freshly treated follicles

🌿 What you can expect instead:
Mild redness, warmth, or tiny scabs in some areas, all of which are normal and temporary as your skin begins to heal.

✨ After the 24-hour window, most clients can return to their usual makeup routine, but it’s always best to keep products clean, gentle, and non-comedogenic where possible.

Every skin type responds differently, so aftercare may be adjusted based on the area treated and your individual sensitivity.

Looking after your skin after treatment is just as important as the treatment itself. it all adds up to better, smoother long-term results. 💫

✨ Sunscreen: Your Skincare ESSENTIAL ✨

Sunscreen (SPF) is the most important step in any skincare routine, no matter your skin type, tone, or concerns.

It’s not just for sunny days or holidays, UV rays are present year-round, even when it’s cloudy or cold. Consistent daily use of SPF helps protect your skin from long-term damage and keeps it looking healthier for longer.

☀️ Helps protect against premature ageing
UV exposure is one of the main causes of fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of firmness over time. Sunscreen helps defend the skin from this damage, supporting a more youthful-looking complexion.

☀️ Helps prevent dark spots and uneven skin tone
Sun exposure can trigger pigmentation, post-blemish marks, and uneven tone. Regular use of SPF helps reduce the risk of new dark spots forming and keeps skin looking more even.

☀️ Helps protect the skin barrier from damage
Daily UV rays and environmental stressors can weaken the skin barrier over time. Sunscreen acts as a protective shield, helping the skin stay stronger, calmer, and more resilient.

☀️ Helps support overall skin health
Whether your goal is clearer skin, anti-ageing, or reducing sensitivity, SPF supports every skincare routine by protecting the progress you’re making with your other products.

The truth is, no serum or treatment can fully replace sunscreen. It’s the step that helps everything else work better and last longer.

Apply it every morning, reapply throughout the day if you’re outdoors, and make it a non-negotiable part of your routine.

✨ Will electrolysis leave scars? ✨

This is one of the most common concerns we hear from clients considering electrolysis.

The good news? When electrolysis is performed by a qualified and experienced electrologist, scarring is very rare.

💡 What is normal after treatment?

It's completely normal to experience:

✔️ Redness
✔️ Mild swelling
✔️ Tenderness
✔️ Small pinpoint scabs

These are temporary healing responses and are often a sign that your skin is repairing itself after treatment.

⏳ Healing looks different for everyone, but most redness settles within a few hours to a few days, depending on the area treated and your skin's sensitivity.

One of the biggest mistakes clients make is picking at any small scabs that form. These should be left to heal naturally, as picking can increase the risk of irritation, pigmentation changes, and unwanted skin damage.

✨ Following your aftercare advice is just as important as the treatment itself. Keeping the area clean, avoiding excessive heat, and allowing your skin time to heal can help you achieve the best possible results.

Remember, electrolysis is the only method of permanent hair removal, and while some temporary skin reactions are expected, permanent scarring is not considered a normal outcome of correctly performed treatment.
