Could Your Tiredness Be More Than Just a Bad Night's Sleep?

Sleep Apnoea Awareness
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/sleep-apnoea/

Do you…?
😴 Feel tired or sleepy during the day?
😪 Snore loudly most nights?
😮 Wake up gasping or choking?
🤕 Wake with morning headaches?
🧠 Find it difficult to concentrate or remember things?
😴 Fall asleep easily while watching TV or sitting quietly?
You may have sleep apnoea.

Sleep apnoea is a common condition where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. Many people have it without realising.

Why is it important?

Untreated sleep apnoea can increase the risk of:

* High blood pressure
* Heart disease and stroke
* Type 2 diabetes
* Poor concentration and memory
* Road traffic and workplace accidents caused by excessive sleepiness

Who is at higher risk?
* People who are overweight
* Loud, regular snorers
* Adults over 40
* People with a family history of sleep apnoea
* Smokers
* People who drink alcohol regularly, especially before bed

Sleep apnoea is treatable. Treatment can improve:

* Sleep quality
* Energy levels
* Mood
* Overall health and wellbeing

Think you might have sleep apnoea?

Speak to a member of our GP practice team. They can assess your symptoms and, if appropriate, arrange further investigation or refer you for a sleep assessment.

Don't ignore the signs—better sleep could improve your health and quality of life.

Find out about sleep apnoea, which is when your breathing stops and starts while you sleep.

Learn how to protect your eyes whilst watching the partial solar eclipse!

We probably shouldn’t have to say this, but don’t look directly at the sun. Looking directly at the sun without the right protection can cause permanent damage to your eyesight – so you need to take care. Remember, your normal sunglasses may look great, but they won't cut it.

Follow the link to learn more about how to watch the eclipse safely!

🌞 Stay Safe in the Heat 🌞

Hot weather can affect anyone, but young children, older adults, and people with long-term health conditions are at greater risk.

To stay safe:
💧 Drink plenty of water.
🧢 Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and seek shade.
🏠 Keep your home cool by closing curtains during the hottest part of the day.
🚶 Avoid strenuous activity during peak heat (11am–3pm).
👨‍👩‍👧 Check in on elderly relatives, friends, and neighbours.
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked car.

Know the signs of heat exhaustion: dizziness, headache, excessive sweating, nausea, or muscle cramps. Move to a cool place, drink water, and seek medical advice if symptoms worsen or do not improve.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and take care of one another. 💙
