Just a short walk from our surgery is Ordsall Hall – an important part of our local community and a place many people may not realise is right on their doorstep.

Last week, members of our team met with colleagues from Salford Community Leisure to explore opportunities to work together in the future.

We talked about the important role that creativity, physical activity and spending time in nature can play in supporting our health and wellbeing. With its beautiful gardens and green spaces, Ordsall Hall offers a place to walk, reflect and unwind. It’s one of those places that helps you feel more connected to the community around you, while giving you a chance to slow down for a while.

We’re looking forward to exploring how we can work together to help more people discover and enjoy everything this fantastic community asset has to offer.

***Message from Dr Coulson***

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for all the messages, hugs, cards and presents from my patients and OHS family. I feel so lucky to have worked in the same practice for 29 years. Such a privilege. It’s easier to go knowing that my patients are in such good hands. Take care ❤️❤️

With temperatures staying high across the UK, it’s worth remembering that some medications can affect how well your body copes with heat.

Certain antidepressants, antipsychotics and ADHD medications can make it harder to regulate body temperature, increasing the risk of overheating during hot weather.

A few simple steps can help:

* Drink plenty of water
* Stay out of direct sun during the hottest part of the day
* Keep your home as cool as possible
* Wear loose, lightweight clothing
* Limit alcohol, which can contribute to dehydration

It’s also important to know the signs of heat stroke. Seek urgent medical help if someone develops a very high temperature along with confusion, unusual behaviour, collapse, loss of consciousness or a seizure.

If you’re taking regular medication and are worried about how the heat may affect you, speak to your pharmacist or contact us for advice.
