Feeding your baby is a learning journey, and it's completely normal to have questions along the way. Whether you're breastfeeding, bottle feeding, mixed feeding or expressing, you don't have to do it alone.

Across Greater Manchester, infant feeding support is available to help you make informed choices and provide practical advice, encouragement and reassurance whenever you need it.

πŸ“… July at a Glance – Supporting Our Patients

Every month our team works hard to make sure patients can access the right care, at the right time, from the right healthcare professional.

During July, we provided 4,654 appointments across our practice:
🩺 2,734 GP & ANP appointments
πŸ’‰ 1,329 Nurse appointments
πŸ’Š 591 Pharmacist appointments

We're particularly pleased that 57% of GP & ANP appointments were available on the same day or the following day, helping many patients receive timely care when they needed it most.

A huge thank you to all of our clinical and administrative teams for their continued hard work, and thank you to our patients for your patience and support.

If you need to contact us, our reception team will help direct you to the most appropriate clinician or service for your healthcare needs.

πŸ’œ Breastfeeding Awareness Week πŸ’œ

Every breastfeeding journey is different. Whether you're expecting your first baby, feeding a newborn, or continuing your breastfeeding journey, it's okay to ask for support.

Breastfeeding provides valuable health benefits for both babies and parents, and every feed counts. Exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months offers the greatest health benefits, but any amount of breast milk can make a positive difference.

If you're looking for trusted NHS advice, the Best Start for Life website offers practical information on topics including:
πŸ‘Ά Getting started with breastfeeding
🀱 Positioning and attachment
🍼 Expressing and storing breast milk
🏑 Feeding when you're out and about
πŸ’Ό Returning to work while breastfeeding

If you need someone to talk to, the National Breastfeeding Helpline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 0300 100 0212, offering free, confidential support from trained volunteers.

πŸŽ‰ 95.8% of our patients would recommend us to their family and friends! πŸ’™

We're delighted to share that 95.8% of patients who completed our Friends & Family Test in July said they would recommend Salford Medical Centre & The Quays Practice to their family and friends.

Even more encouraging, this is the third consecutive month that our score has increased, reflecting the positive changes we've been making across the practice.

Behind the scenes, our whole team has been working incredibly hard to improve the care and service we provide. From reviewing our processes and introducing new ways for patients to contact us, to supporting one another during periods of change, every member of our team has played an important part in helping us deliver the best possible experience for our patients.

We're incredibly proud that more and more patients are recognising these efforts, and we'd like to say a huge thank you to every member of our team for their dedication, compassion and commitment to providing high-quality care every single day. πŸ‘

Finally, thank you to everyone who has taken the time to complete the Friends & Family Test. Your feedback helps us understand what's working well and where we can continue to improve.

πŸ’™ Together, we'll keep striving to provide the very best care for our community.

πŸ›‘οΈ The new Meningitis B (MenB) Vaccination Programme is now available

From today (20th July), eligible young people in England can access a free MenB (Meningitis B) vaccination through the new time-limited NHS vaccination programme.

You may be eligible if you:
βœ… Are in Year 13 (born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008)
βœ… Are under 25 and starting university or residential further education for the first time this autumn.

⚠️ Please note: This vaccination is NOT available from GP practices.

If you're eligible, you can book your vaccination through a participating community pharmacy. Two doses are needed for the best protection, with the second dose given at least 28 days after the first.

https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/vaccination-and-booking-services/

Meningitis B is a rare but serious infection that can become life-threatening very quickly. Getting vaccinated before starting university or residential further education can help protect you during this higher-risk period.

Please share this post with anyone who may be eligible.

πŸ“± Making it easier to contact us through the NHS App

The latest GP Patient Survey found that 48% of respondents found it easy to contact our practice using the NHS App.

We understand this result may seem lower than we'd like, and we'd like to explain why.

At the time the survey was carried out, our previous online consultation system was not integrated with the NHS App. This meant that patients were unable to use the app to contact us directly for clinical or administrative requests, which understandably affected many patients' experience.

The good news is that we've now moved to our new online consultation platform, Accurx. πŸŽ‰

We're expecting full integration with the NHS App within the coming days, making it much easier for patients to get in touch with us. Once this is live, you'll be able to submit both clinical and administrative requests directly through the NHS App, providing a more seamless and convenient way to access our services.

We're committed to continually improving how patients can access our practice and hope this new integration will make contacting us quicker and easier than ever.

Thank you for your continued feedback and support as we continue to improve our services. πŸ’™
