This week we are giving tips and info to help people who have busy minds and find it difficult to switch off.

no.5 - quiet

Following n in a way from yesterday’s post about stillness, some people struggle with silence or quiet. If you are someone who is often busy or always on the go silence can sometimes feel uncomfortable.

Some people are often worried about silence and how they will be alone with their thoughts but teaching meditation once these people have started to learn meditation they seem to become more comfortable with silence and being with their thoughts and minds.

A possible way to get used to quiet is to start to introduce parts of your day where there is quiet and allow contemplation where thoughts come in and drift off. For example, you might try turning the radio off in the car sometimes.

Becoming comfortable with silence and your mind I personally think is really powerful and a great skill to learn. It might not feel easy but much better than ignoring or shutting out thoughts in your mind. If you struggle with lots of thoughts you might find journaling and writing them down helps to get them out of your head.

Recently I was talking to someone on the beginners meditation program and she realised she needed to become comfortable with being able to hear her own heartbeat.

This week we are giving tips and info to help people who have busy minds and find it difficult to switch off.

no.4 - stillness

We all lead busy, sometime hectic and stressful lives. A common theme that people are discussing with me is stillness.

Sometimes people just want to pause and enjoy the stillness. This can feel very challenging if we aren’t used to it so start small. Just pause and enjoy the stillness as you drink your cuppa. Pause and enjoy the birds singing while you are outside. Stop on a walk and sit on the bench you would normally walk past and just absorb what is around you.

Thinking about what you can see, hear, feel and smell can often help people absorb the stillness and quieten their mind so they can enjoy the moment.

You may find this challenging and thoughts might crop in about what you need to do later, things you haven’t done etc. If that is the case just start to practice having the thoughts and letting them go. Think of thoughts as being like clouds in the sky. Rather than letting them stay over you and create darkness and shadows, allow them to drift on past so you can enjoy the light and blue sky. The more you practice this the easier it becomes.

If you want more help with this please just get in contact so you can learn to embrace the stillness and calm mind

This week we are giving tips and info to help people who have busy minds and find it difficult to switch off.

no.3 - let go of thoughts

This is something people initially find really difficult when they start to meditate. We often have to help people as they think that they are bad at meditating or doing it wrong if they are having thoughts during the practice.

When actually the whole point of meditating is having a thought and then being able to let it go.

If your mind is used to being busy most of the time it can also feel very strange not having your mind whirring all the time and thoughts ruminating or spiralling in your mind. So we have to get used to the novelty of having calm, slower thoughts

2 weeks to go till our last Outdoor Relaxing Soundbath of the summer – the perfect way to switch off, relax and feel calmer whilst enjoying being outside in nature.

The feedback from our earlier sessions has been wonderful:
• It was a fantastic first experience thanks so much. The light drops through the tree added to the whole experience. Marta
• My first soundbath & I loved it. Thank you Gemma. Beautiful surroundings & a great experience. Vicki
• I loved it! My first sound bath - and particularly special because of the beautiful garden setting. Thank you so much Gemma! Philippa
If you aren’t sure how it can help, people often say they:
- enjoy the feeling of switching their brain off for a little while,
- reduce feelings of stress, anxiousness or worry and feel calmer and more relaxed,
- clear brain fog and ease mental fatigue,
- sleep well,
- love taking time out for them,
- normally struggle to relax and meditate or stop the mind running at 100 miles an hour and the singing bowls help do this.

Come and join us for our ultimate outdoor relaxing sound bath relaxing session where we can enjoy being outside in a beautiful tranquil garden amongst the tress and flowers within a private garden in the Salisbury Cathedral Close.
Experience listening to the sounds of nature combined with the sound and vibrations of our singing bowls. Soundbaths are a great way to switch off, calm the mind and feel relaxed, people often say to me they sleep well afterwards as well.

This week we are giving tips and info to help people who have busy minds and find it difficult to switch off.

no.2 - positive vs negative

If you are someone who often finds yourself constantly thinking or finding it difficult to switch off your mind, I want you to take a minute or two and think….. Are your thoughts more often positive or negative?

It is quite common to say to me they focus on the negative or naturally the negative view of the situation comes to mind quicker and easier. I know I used to be like this.

It may feel difficult but most of the time we can find a positive in any situation. It might be something small like the dog was happy to see me or I smiled today etc…

If we can start to focus on the positive our minds feel less threatened and stressed and can calm down a little.

Also if you spend 5 minutes at the start and end of your day thinking about 3 things that went well, are new or good today you will start to see the positivity more and more. Want to do one even better, get it out of your head and down on paper.
