This is going to be instrumental in helping children escape from unsafe situations. I often hear parents in my practice talking about the worry of having to send children to their abusers because it’s the law despite some children expressing unhappiness about being with that parent. However, as with all things, checks and balances are vital to ensure that parents don’t abuse this system. Equally, the courts need to mandate training for magistrates and judges about domestic abuse as there is still a culture of not taking it seriously enough. But still, a victory nonetheless.
