a new chapter šŸ’«

At the end of March, we welcomed our baby daughter into the world. We are completely besotted with her. We’re doing really well, & finding our feet in this very tender, all-consuming early chapter together.

As some of you may know from previous posts, my journey to motherhood has been long & layered over several years, including navigating endometriosis, surgery, pregnancy loss, & learning to hold hope alongside uncertainty.

So to be here with her now… to be a mother, mothering… feels incredibly precious. Something I feel deeply grateful for šŸ™šŸ½

This experience has deepened in me an even greater compassion & tenderness for those navigating fertility challenges, illness, loss, uncertainty, & the many (often invisible) layers that can sit behind becoming a parent.

+ alongside that, an even deeper respect for women, mothers, & all those in a mothering or parenting role. For the sheer devotion, sacrifice, complexity & privilege this can hold all at once.

I am in awe of all those who came before me. If that’s you… just wow šŸ™ŒšŸ¼

In many ways, my work over the years has been its own preparation for motherhood. Years spent learning about nervous systems, attachment, embodiment, compassion and co-regulation now taking on an entirely new depth & meaning….

And still, these early weeks have been deeply humbling too. Beautiful & love-filled, yes, but also overwhelming, stretching & completely unlike anything I could have prepared for.

As I step into this slower season, where my focus is (very much) here at home, getting to know this new rhythm of motherhood…

I can already feel this chapter shaping me personally, but also shaping the way I think about my work, the way I want to live, & what I want to put into the world for you, for us, for our daughter, & for the wider world.

So for now, I’ll gently bob in & out of this space to share what feels meaningful, whilst honouring this slower season of life.

+ when the time feels right, I’ll slowly begin returning to 1-1 work, somatic yoga, workshops, courses & retreats again in 2027.

For now though, I’m here, baby in arms, & motherhood is very much my deepest practice right now šŸ¤

āļøSave this one for later āļø

It has one of those nuggets in it that everyone I’ve shared it with has written down or asked ā€œcan you WhatsApp that to meā€ āš”ļøāœØ

(I’m talking about the ā€œhow to discern a trauma responseā€ question on slide number 8 ā˜ŗļø)

It’s a question that can transport us out of a trauma response back into the here and now ā°
It can shift us away from thinking we’re unsafe back into safety šŸ¤—
& it can reconnect us after disconnection 🄰

It will help you to work out if this anxiety/anger/shut down is a trauma response..?! Or if it is simply a response?!

If you’ve lost trust with your body and lost touch with your intuition this can feel really confusing. I know I’ve sat with anxiety freaking out about whether this was something I should act on or not - my body is telling me to run - should I run? šŸƒā€ā™€ļøOr is running just re-enacting out past trauma?

This is a roadblock I think we all come up against at some point in the healing journey
& when you get skilled in finding the answer to this question for yourself, you are well on the way to healing šŸ™šŸ½

Spoiler: I didn’t run.

So I hope this is as useful for you as it was for me, and is for my clients.

Let me know in the comments, and don’t forget to get out your journal and write this down, save this post, or screen shot it into your phone or notes - etch this in your memory because this discernment question will change everything šŸ¤—šŸ™ŒšŸ¼

On the healing journey, there will come a time when your body begins to speak…
ļæ½Not through words—but through tears, shaking, anger, grief.

These are not signs you’re breaking down…
ļæ½They’re signs your nervous system finally feels safe enough to let go šŸƒ

What was once too much, too soon, is now able to be felt—bit by bit.

In somatic therapy, when we work with nervous system regulation, the goal isn’t to stop anger, anxiety or emotion.
ļæ½It’s to grow trust, capacity, and safety—so that these feelings can move through us, rather than getting stuck inside šŸŒ€

& when I say bit by bit, this is where regulation helps us feel the feels - so we can move in and out of the grief, anger, sadness in a titrated way, bit by bit, instead of being flooded.

Sending my love to anyone who’s feeling some big, raw, or messy feelings right nowā€¦ā™„ļøļæ½
It means something in you feels safe enough to feel it now…
ļæ½That’s no small thing šŸ¤—

Love, Claire 🌷x
