Residents can enjoy comfortable lounges, on‑site hair salon and family meals in the private dining room. I am passionate about delivering personalized care, I approach my role with unwavering empathy. Every individual is unique, and I strive to understand and meet their distinct needs, creating a supportive and caring environment. 🚐 Did you we have a minibus to take our residents out on trips?🚐

We've recently enjoyed trips to Salisbury Cathedral, Salisbury Museum and Parkwood Cafe, spotting interesting vehicles on the way.
Residents enjoy a jaunt on the minibus and have ventured out to farms, garden centres and sometimes for a little retail therapy!🥀☕
Now the weather is a little cooler we have a trip to the seaside planned. 🐚🍦

🌟 Making Our Caring Stars Shine! 🌟

💛 Each month, our colleagues have the opportunity to nominate a fellow team member as a Caring Star – someone they’ve seen going above and beyond their usual role. Each winner receives a gift voucher from Erin, our Home Manager.💛

This month we are celebrating Theresa our Admin Officer, and Tracy Ann, one of our Carers ⭐

🌟 Theresa’s colleagues described her as someone who shows outstanding dedication and commitment and consistently treats everyone with compassion, respect and kindness.
She was praised for her strong work ethic, determination and ability to find positive solutions, even in challenging situations. Approachable, incredibly patient and always willing to help, one colleague also highlighted how much she values everyone within our home,
🌟 Tracy Ann was recognised for being hardworking, compassionate and kind, as well as extremely thorough in everything she does.
Reliable and approachable, Tracy is well-liked and respected by colleagues and residents alike and was described as a very valued and effective member of our team. She's always cheerful and has a lovely smile for everyone.

📚🌸 A Real Page Turner! 🌸📚

We've been getting creative with a beautiful book-folding craft, giving old books a new lease of life!
On Saturday, residents were joined by visitors to the home, bringing different generations together to create, chat, share ideas and enjoy each other’s company.

By carefully folding the pages, the books were transformed to create a vase at their centre, with a mixture of artificial, dried and fresh flowers. 🌷🌿

💛 Saturday Staff Spotlight 💛

This week we’re introducing Heather, one of our wonderful nurses, who joined Laverstock Care Centre in February this year.

After qualifying in 2014, she has built a varied nursing career, beginning in dementia care before moving into specialist neurological rehabilitation. Nursing wasn’t actually her first career choice, but we’re certainly glad she found it!

😃Her favourite part of the role?

“The people. I love dementia care, getting to know our residents, spending time talking with them and building those relationships. When relatives tell you they can see how much you care, it makes you want to do even more. That’s what it’s all about.”
She also says “We’ve got a fantastic team. Everyone listens to each other, supports each other and works together”.🫶

When Heather is not at work, you’ll find her outdoors, whether that’s walking, spending time at the beach or enjoying her garden.🥀🏖

She is also passionate about supporting SDS UK, Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome UK, a charity very close to her heart.

👨‍🍳Chef's Table ‍👩‍🍳

Chef’s Table is a unique dining experience designed to bring residents and chefs together each month. The menu can either be a resident-inspired collaboration or created by Head Chef, Dean, using our hero seasonal ingredients.

💛Today, residents James and Ron were joined in our private dining room by Administrator, Theresa.

Head Chef Dean served a 3 course delight. The main course was a choice of Slow Cooked Lamb Shank with Rich Gravy or Roasted Chicken wrapped in Bacon with Roasted Pepper Sauce served with butternut squash, steamed tenderstem broccoli accompanied by Dauphinoise Potatoes.

The perfect opportunity for a relaxed conversation about food, flavours and inspiration. Feedback from the residents was extremely positive as James served.

Food and mealtimes play a huge role in wellbeing as we get older. Our Hospitality team take pride in delivering freshly prepared seasonal menus and making mealtimes a relaxed, social experience for our residents.

💚 Volunteering at Downton Downtime 💚

Spending time with such a wonderful group of people – fellow volunteers and the fantastic Tracy, who runs the group, and everyone who comes along each week.

😃There are always smiles and laughter.

Downton Downtime is a welcoming weekly gathering for people living with dementia, their carers, older adults, and anyone who would enjoy a relaxed morning of connection, creativity, and gentle activities. We start with tea, cake, and a chat before enjoying a choice of inclusive activities designed to be fun, engaging, and suitable for everyone.

The group is a brilliant collaboration between Beyond Dementia , MUSE and Sounds Better CIC.

If you know someone who might enjoy coming along, please tell them all about it!
