Last month, two of our volunteers provided free first aid training for a community group run by Wiltshire Sight which supports people experiencing sight loss.

We were so pleased to be able to adapt our training to enable participants to get involved regardless of physical limitations - we even had a 95 year old trying out CPR on our new female anatomy manikins which proves really anyone can get involved and help in an emergency!

The feedback we received after was really lovely and we’re hoping to be able to follow up our session to explore other ways to help someone in need in the future! 💚

The session covered calling for help, administering CPR, using defibrillators and responding to choking and severe bleeding.

This week, our multi-talented volunteer Tim lead a fantastic session for our adult volunteers on map reading. With volunteers widely ranging in ages and experience, some had never read a map before but by the end we had all learnt something new and a useful skill for taking out onto events with us!

This evening, one of our volunteers provided first aid cover for Brownsea Open Air Theatre at Canford's performance of Shakespeare's classic The Tempest, supporting John Ambulance - East Dorset.

On Monday evening, our volunteers took part in a multi-casualty training scenario at our building on Roman Road 💚

With support from a volunteer with expertise in casualty simulation makeup (difficult to believe but we promise it’s not real!), and two willing volunteers with brilliant acting skills, it was a perfect opportunity to put our training to the test under pressure.

Participants ranged from new volunteers yet to undertake their training, to an experienced NHS paramedic - training together helps us work better together at real incidents, and ensures we are ready for anything 💪🏻

This weekend our volunteers were kept busy at lots of events including a two day Volleyball Tournament, Rifles Fest in Bulford, and a Salisbury Cathedral musical event 💚

We are out again next week at another military family day, an Organ Prom at Salisbury Cathedral and Salisbury MELA for Salisbury City Council. Give us a wave if you see us! 👋🏻

Start of a busy weekend of volunteering for our Network - this one at Bemerton Heath Fun Day. Lovely community day with lots of family activities, including the tireless Disco Dion! Met up with Mayor Jenny again.

Our volunteers were out in force again this weekend supporting both the Salisbury Fire Station Open Day 🚒 and the Harnham Fun Day 🎡

Whilst we weren’t providing medical cover for the Fire Station Open Day we were very busy providing community training as well as raising money for the network - we are pleased to say both were incredibly successful with 100+ attendees taught life saving skills and over £200 raised in generous donations which will go directly to our Network’s work in the local community.

A huge thanks to the team at Salisbury Fire Station for having us back again this year, and thank you to all those who supported us throughout the day! 💚❤️

We’ve got another very busy weekend ahead of us, with the Bemerton Fun Day on Friday, a Cathedral Concert and a Miliary Fun Day on Saturday and a Volleyball Tournament on Saturday and Sunday!

We’ve been a bit quiet on here recently but that’s because we’ve just been so busy out on events and excursions! 💚

In the past 3 weeks our volunteers have covered several events including Stars Appeal - Salisbury District Hospital's Charity Walk for Wards, Fovant Badges Drumhead Service and Fete, and several Salisbury Cathedral concerts. We’ve had a youth trip to the park (complete with water fight) and helped to cover events for our colleagues in Dorset 🚑

We’ve also been out in the community providing free first aid training at various events and groups, and we’re looking forward to attending the Salisbury Fire Station Open Day this Saturday! We’ll have first aid demos, the opportunity to have a fake wound applied and learn how to treat it, as well as lots of merch and games (with prizes!) to raise money for our Network 🚒

We will also be at the Harnham Fun Day providing event medical cover. Please do say hi if you see us out and about this weekend! 💚
