More and more employers are recognising the value that people who have Down’s syndrome bring to their teams. With the right support, colleagues become friends, confidence grows, and people feel welcomed, respected and truly part of the workplace.

Our WorkFit Programme sees every day how meaningful employment creates opportunities, builds connections and challenges outdated assumptions.

Veteran news anchor Jon Snow has shared that he’s living with Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form of dementia.

Jon was diagnosed in 2023, two years after stepping down from his most famous role presenting Channel 4 News.

He and his wife, neurologist Dr Precious Lunga, are now speaking publicly for the first time to help raise vital awareness of a condition affecting around 1 million people across the UK.

Thank you to Jon and Precious for supporting Alzheimer’s Society, and for their courage and openness to bring much-needed attention to dementia 💙

"We refuse to let a diagnosis keep us off the court, and playing sport together is our way of staying strong, both physically and mentally."

8 players from one of our local groups in Harrogate travelled to Denmark to compete in the Parkinson’s Nordic Open 2026. Over a fantastic weekend of padel, the team showcased incredible determination, skill, and team spirit, representing their club and the Parkinson’s community with pride on the international stage.

"Parkinson's UK is an absolute lifeline, providing invaluable local support, building a fantastic community, and driving the research we need for a cure. We wanted to give back to the charity that champions everyone living with this condition and helps us realize that life absolutely doesn't stop with a diagnosis.

"Beyond raising vital funds, we wanted to completely smash the stigma around Parkinson's. By stepping onto an international stage and coming home with silverware, we hope to show anyone recently diagnosed that you can still challenge yourself, try new things, and live an active, competitive, and joyful life."

The team have raised almost £6,000 for us, and we're so grateful for their incredible donation. We can't do it without you.

Some days do not need fixing.
They need softness, patience, and a reminder that you are human.

We live in a world that constantly tells us to move faster, heal faster, achieve more, and “get over it” quickly. But real healing rarely looks dramatic. Sometimes it looks like getting out of bed when your mind feels heavy. Sometimes it looks like resting without guilt. Sometimes it looks like surviving a difficult week without giving up on yourself.

Your progress is not measured only by productivity.
It is also measured by the moments you chose to keep going even when things felt uncertain.

And please remember this:
just because your healing is not visible yet does not mean it is not happening.

Tiny exercise for today:
Put your hand on your heart and ask yourself:
“What do I need more of today?”
Not what would make you more productive.
Not what would make others happier.
What would genuinely help YOU feel supported today?

Maybe it is rest.
Maybe it is silence.
Maybe it is asking for help.
Maybe it is simply slowing down.

Small moments of peace matter more than you think. 🌷
