Happy two year self-employed anniversary to me! 🥳

Two whole years of helping people, believing in myself, learning, growing and taking on new roles under my therapist umbrella.

If you’d told me two years ago that I’d have built a successful little business that helps support my family, be training as a Play Therapist, become a Little Troopers Therapist and have supported over 30 children, young people and adults, I honestly wouldn’t have believed you!

There have been plenty of moments of self doubt and imposter syndrome but looking back at how far I’ve come makes me incredibly proud.

I took a leap of faith two years agoand I’m so glad I did.

Here’s to another year of learning, growing and supporting others. 🦋

Hello September 🍂

What does September mean to you?

For me, it marks two years (and the beginning of my third academic school year) of being self-employed as an Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner.

This September, I’ll continue supporting my private clients, while also working with students in local schools through Play Therapy and Little Troopers Therapy.

I’ve absolutely loved the slower pace of summer but I’m ready to get back into a routine, watch the seasons change and enjoy that feeling of nature slowing down, resting and preparing for winter.

September can feel a little uneasy for many. Going back to school and settling into new routines can be tricky, so if you or your child needs a friendly chat or some extra support, I’m always here to help and can talk you through the support I offer.

It also marks the end of my husband’s 6 month deployment! 🥳
So keep your eyes peeled for some extra evening spaces becoming available from October.

This is why sometimes, less really is more🤍

When parents come to me, they often want to tell me everything about their child and I completely understand why. You know your child better than anyone and you want me to have as much information as possible to help them.

But sometimes, I actually don’t need to know everything.

To build a therapeutic relationship with a child, I usually only need the basics:
✨ Any diagnoses
✨ Whether other professionals or agencies are involved
✨ A basic understanding of why support is needed
✨ Anything I legally or professionally need to know to keep them safe

And then… I want to get to know them.

Because when we’re given a detailed picture of what a child is like, what’s “wrong”, what has happened or what someone believes is causing their difficulties, it can unintentionally influence the way we see that child.

And as much as I’d love to say professionals are completely immune to that… we’re human too.

I want to meet the child in front of me…
Not just the child described in a referral.
Not just the child school sees.
Not just the child you see at home.

Them.

You are the expert on your child but sometimes, less really is more.

It gives us the space to listen, observe, connect and discover.

Good morning! ☀️

I’ve had quite a few enquiries recently, so I thought I’d share my current availability with you.

At the moment, I have one evening slot available from 15th September at 5.30pm, which can be used for either Drawing & Talking or Sandplay Therapy.

My husband is finally coming home from deployment in just a matter of weeks!
So, from October (I’m just waiting for a confirmed date), I’ll be able to open up more evening slots.

Keep checking back for updates and as soon as I know my availability, I’ll let you know!

✨ I am officially closed for the next two weeks! ✨

Tomorrow my wonderful husband comes home for R&R after being away for almost five months, so we’re taking some much needed family time together ❤️

I’ll be back supporting all of my wonderful clients from 10th August.

As always, thank you for all the support you’ve shown me and my business. It truly means the world that I get to do a job I absolutely love while supporting my own family at the same time.

It’s a bittersweet feeling. 🦋

I think everyone is ready for the summer break after the heatwave and the long final term of 2025/26. But I’ll really miss this space every Tuesday. I’ll miss the children whose journeys have come to an end, and I’ll miss all the fun, laughter, and moments we’ve shared.

Endings can be hard, but they’re also a chance to pause, reflect, and recognise just how far you’ve come.

It’s been such a journey since I started my placement in April, and I’m so grateful to have been part of each child’s story. I’m already looking forward to September, welcoming both new and returning clients. 🦋

I’ve just compared last year’s statistics to this year’s - looking at how many people I’ve supported over the school 🥹

I’ve also introduced Play Therapy and Little Troopers Therapy this year and I’m so proud of how much has grown.

But if I’m honest, my mind is already on my next goal. 💭
It’s so easy to keep raising the bar that you forget to celebrate how far you’ve already come.

Don’t let your next goal make you forget your last achievement.

So this is your reminder to pause, reflect and be proud of what you’ve achieved this year - not what’s still to come, but everything you’ve already accomplished. 🦋

Such a wonderful programme, I’m so proud to be apart of this 🦋

We currently have capacity to accept one-to-one referrals into our Little Troopers Therapy Programme.

This programme is available to children from Reception to Year 13 who have one or both parents currently serving in the Regular or Reserve British Armed Forces.

This isn't generic therapy. It's a structured programme of six military-specific talking therapy sessions, delivered face to face by trained therapists who understand the unique experiences of military childhood.

The first three sessions focus on:
💚 Emotional Literacy
💚 Change and Transitions
💚 Relationships and Connection

The remaining three sessions are tailored to the individual child and may cover topics such as:
• Building connections and making friends
• Deployment and reunion
• Family dynamics
• Moving house or school
• Separation anxiety
• Identity

If you feel your military child could benefit and is currently experiencing challenges linked to military life, we'd encourage you to consider making a referral.

We accept referrals directly from families, as well as from schools, community workers, welfare teams and healthcare professionals.

I spoke to a parent recently who had noticed their children were starting to comment on their emotions - recognising and naming how they were feeling.

I thanked them, because what they were doing (often without even realising it) is incredibly powerful.

By allowing their own children to see their own emotions, they’re teaching them that feelings are safe, normal and nothing to hide or be ashamed of.

Children don’t just learn from what we tell them - they learn from what we model.

Sometimes emotional healing isn’t found in the big moments. It’s in the everyday conversations, the acceptance, the co-regulation and the safety we create together. 🦋
