It has been a very busy but rewarding week for SM Safety Training & Consultancy Ltd

On Monday, we delivered our NEBOSH HSE Managing Stress at Work course VIA TEAMs to a fantastic mix of veterans, serving military personnel and civilians from the facilities management sector.

We are delighted to say that we have once again maintained our 100% pass rate on this course, which is a brilliant achievement for everyone involved.

On Tuesday, our trainer, Lee, delivered the IOSH Managing Safely course to the Joint Services Adventure Sailing Training Centre, supporting 16 students through the qualification. 100% Pass.

Also on Tuesday, we attended the Forces Transition Group Ltd Live show at Southampton FC, providing advice and support to service leavers, veterans and blue light personnel who are looking at their next steps and future careers.

I then travelled to Harrogate to deliver another IOSH Managing Safely course to Region 5–6 Harbour Healthcare, working with regional managers, managers and maintenance staff, amazing interaction, sharing experiences learning different processes and refreshing safety practices.

A huge well done to all learners this week. It has been great to see so much engagement, discussion and commitment to improving health and safety standards across different sectors.

In my mind this is what success looks like, not just by us but by all taking part, amazing week.

Last night, we received our March cohort NEBOSH General Certificate GNC2 results, and we are very proud to announce an outstanding 86% pass rate.

This is something we are extremely proud of, especially as the cohort included a great mix of service personnel and civilians from engineering industries, all bringing different experiences, backgrounds and workplace perspectives to the course.

The GNC2 practical assessment is a challenging part of the NEBOSH General Certificate, requiring learners to apply their knowledge through a real workplace risk assessment. This result is a fantastic reflection of their hard work, commitment and determination.

A huge well done to everyone who passed, and thank you for choosing SM Safety Training & Consultancy to support your NEBOSH journey.

From Service to Safety: Why NEBOSH is a Natural Fit

If you are currently serving, preparing to leave the military, or supporting someone through transition, this is well worth a read.

A career in health and safety is often a very natural fit for service personnel and service leavers.

Why?

Because health and safety is built around many of the same strengths developed in the military:

✅ Process-driven thinking
✅ Leadership and accountability
✅ Risk awareness
✅ Planning and control
✅ Teamwork and communication
✅ Looking after people

The military way of doing business is structured and process-led, and that is exactly why so many service leavers do well in health and safety roles.

In the blog, I cover:

• why NEBOSH can support a career change
• how it can help strengthen managerial roles
• why employers value service leavers in health and safety
• how your existing skills already transfer into the civilian workplace
• and how ELCAS funding may help, including the option to put multiple courses under one ELCAS claim

If you are looking at your next step and want a qualification that builds on the skills you already have, NEBOSH is definitely worth considering.

At SM Safety Training & Consultancy, we specialise in helping service personnel and service leavers move into civilian health and safety, translating military knowledge into civilian language.

Over the last 48 hours we have been busy, we have traveled to Warwick/Coventry to attend the NEBOSH Conference dinner night were I found myself sat with the CEO of NEBOSH, discussing future developments in the world of Health & Safety, how it is growing world wide.

We also discussed about the development of teaching serving and veteran soldiers how we can help and support, big things on the horizon and great future developments.

Yesterday I attended the NEBOSH Conference covering a wide range of subjects to assessments, Ai developments, customer services, trends and insights of course developments.

It was a great productive meeting.
