Keeping cool 😎

The sun is blazing away outside but with our blinds closed, it’s nice and shady here at Victoria Therapy Centre in Saltaire.

The thick stone walls of our beautiful listed building help keep the temperature fairly stable and there’s always a fan for clients and therapists to use should they need it.

There is so much more to grief than sadness- it can evoke a mixture of emotions.

Grief is complex, changing and incredibly personal. There is no 'right' way to grieve, each of our experience will be different.

ℹ️🌿 WHAT IS ATTACHMENT TRAUMA? |
***TRIGGER WARNING***
🖤 Attachment trauma is an unhealed wound. It can feel like an invisible chain that pulls at you. Most attachment wounds start in childhood, when bonds hurt you, instead of protect.

It’s the profound emptiness Oprah has discussed in her candid conversations. It’s the moment you wonder, "What's wrong with me?" instead of asking, "What happened to me?"
Attachment trauma can start early, when caregivers fail to provide safety because of neglect, abuse, or chaos. So, the brain adapts to survive, but this can leave lasting feelings of abandonment and anxiety that devastate your sense of self.

Then there you are, searching for safety in places where it’s hard to find. You might notice it at work as vulnerability, in relationships as distrust, or in reactive meltdowns. Ultimately, you may be wondering if you should seek help.

What about the effects of attachment trauma, you may ask? It can be anything from an all-pervasive isolation, toxic shame mingled with childhood wounds, and a chain reaction so overwhelming that it makes healing feel like climbing an endless mountain.

But there's a ray of hope: Self-awareness can shift the focus through trauma-informed care by honoring your story and retraining the nervous system to recognize that the danger is no longer present, no more fight or flight. You're not flawed; you're forged in fire.
