Maintaining a healthy weight is one of the most important steps you can take to support your overall health and wellbeing. Being at a healthy weight can reduce your risk of developing a range of long-term conditions, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, and some cancers.

A healthy weight can also improve your energy levels, mobility, sleep quality, and mental wellbeing. Many people find that achieving and maintaining a healthy weight helps them feel more confident and able to enjoy everyday activities.

Based on new NHS guidelines, all patients with a recorded BMI of over 30, will receive a Weight Management Support offer from the Practice.

Patient Notice: Delay to Routine Administrative Processing of Hospital Blood Test Results

We would like to make patients aware of an issue currently affecting pathology (blood test) results received from University Hospitals Plymouth (UHP).

UHP has experienced a significant technical issue which has resulted in general practices receiving large numbers of duplicate pathology results. This has created a substantial increase in administrative and clinical workload across GP practices.

Patient safety remains our priority and we are focusing on reviewing and actioning any abnormal or urgent results as quickly as possible. However, this additional workload may lead to delays in the processing of routine blood test results and other non-urgent administrative tasks.

Please be reassured that:
✅ Urgent and clinically significant results will continue to be prioritised.
✅ Urgent appointments and essential patient care services will continue as normal.
✅ UHP are working on identifying a solution that minimises any further impact on practices.

We kindly ask patients not to contact the practice solely to check whether a routine blood test result has been received unless you have been advised to do so by a clinician.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while this issue is resolved. We will provide further updates if the situation changes.

Sun safety

Going out in the sun?

☀The best thing to do in the hot weather is stay out of the direct sun, especially during the hottest part of the day, between 11am and 3pm, as UV rays are strongest during these hours

☀Drink plenty of fluids and avoid excess alcohol during the hot weather

☀Avoid extreme physical exertion during the hot weather. If you can’t avoid strenuous outdoor activity, keep it for cooler parts of the day such as early morning or evening
