1:1 expert support to help access NHS care funding My extensive experience as a CHC assessor & supporting my own family through navigating the CHC process motivated me to specialise my services in helping others through this complex pathway by providing a unique, personalised CHC advocacy service. I have a special interest in helping football players & their families. My father was an outstanding footballer who played at both professional & semi-professional levels, inspiring my drive to deliver a service to meet their needs. He was also a Desert Rat in the army and played nationally & internationally for the Armed Forces Team, representing the England squad, which on one occasion took him to Paris where he played in a televised match in front of Charles De Gaulle. Unfortunately, my father was diagnosed with dementia in his early 60s, my family were devastated. While trying to support my father & come to terms with our grief over his deteriorating health, my mum & sisters were left bewildered & confused by the complexities of funding, the CHC processes & the lack of support or guidance. I ultimately supported my family through the CHC process, developing their knowledge & understanding of my father’s rights & entitlements to enable dad to be awarded full CHC funding until his death. I realised there were many other families in similar situations to my own, particularly when my father’s ex-football team mates were also diagnosed with dementia & their loved ones reached out for help, unable to understand what was required of them in terms of funding. I therefore developed my business to accommodate their needs & believe I can offer a high-quality service with empathy, care & understanding. My aim is to ensure that every individual who comes to my service receives fair and accurate assessments, navigating the CHC process with clarity and confidence. With a commitment to excellence and a focus on your unique need at an affordable price

Walking into an NHS Continuing Healthcare meeting shouldn’t feel like walking into a war zone. But right now, it does. 🛑

A Decision Support Tool (DST) meeting is supposed to be a compassionate meeting where healthcare and social care staff work together to evaluate your needs.

Instead, it has devolved into a battlefield. 😵‍💫

Lately, I am seeing a surge in cases where nobody in the room understands the actual rules, with some ICBs making up their own interpretations—🧐deliberately to make things harder for families to access care funding.

In fact, in 9/10 of my most recent cases, I was appalled at how the social worker was not treated as an 'equal' partner in the process. It has to stop.

Please take 60 seconds to sign the petition demanding a full government review of NHS CHC funding: 👇

(If you are facing a DST meeting and need an independent nurse and professional advocate to stand with you, my website link is in the comments below. 👇)

NHS continuing healthcare (CHC) funding can be a lifeline for people with long-term complex health needs and their unpaid carers in England. But many families are missing out this vital funding because the assessment process is flawed. It doesn’t have to be this way. Right now, you have a critical...

NHS Continuing Healthcare assessments The Local Government & Social Care Ombudsman has recently found an ICB at fault over its policy on Continuing Healthcare (CHC) referrals. It is a good (bad) example of organisations creating their own local policies that do not follow statutory guidance. The cas...

My mum x support your local hospice

You might have spotted the lovely Alice on Look North last week, sharing her experience of Teesside Hospice and our In-Patient Unit. 💜

Sharing how her thoughts of a hospice had totally changed during her stay here, Alice said: “What a week! I did not want to come in but can I just say, it's better than a five-star hotel (and I have been in one or two!). There's nothing they wouldn’t do for you, which makes you feel so at ease and restful.

I’ve had my hair done, I’ve been in the whirlpool bath bath, I’ve done everything. They are so gifted in what they do it’s unbelievable, they’re absolute treasures.

If anybody is frightened about coming into a Hospice, please, please don’t be - just come in."

In case you missed it, you can read Alice's story in full on our website: https://loom.ly/PHWWEtk
