🦵 Don’t underestimate the wall ball…

At first glance, this might just look like someone pushing into an exercise ball.

But this simple exercise can be incredibly effective for improving:
✔️ Hip stability
✔️ Glute strength
✔️ Core control
✔️ Balance
✔️ Lower limb alignment

By creating resistance through the wall, we can activate key muscle groups in a controlled way, helping to retrain movement patterns without placing unnecessary stress on joints.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing persistent pain, or looking to improve performance, rehabilitation isn’t about doing the most difficult exercise—it’s about doing the right exercise at the right time.

Every programme we prescribe is tailored to your body, your goals, and your stage of recovery.

If pain is stopping you from doing the things you love, don’t just put up with it. Get in touch and let us help you go from strength to strength.

🚨 The biggest mistake horse riders make after a fall…

…is getting back on, brushing themselves off and assuming they’re “fine.”

As riders, we’re taught to be resilient. We wear our bruises like badges of honour and often don’t think twice about carrying on.

But even if you walk away from a fall, your body may have absorbed significant force.

In the days that follow, you might notice:
🐎 Neck or shoulder stiffness
🐎 Lower back or pelvic pain
🐎 Hip pain when mounting
🐎 Headaches
🐎 Knee or ankle discomfort
🐎 Feeling “crooked” or off balance in the saddle

These aches aren’t something you have to just put up with.

A fall can cause muscles to tighten, joints to become restricted and movement patterns to change—sometimes without you even realising it. Left untreated, these compensations can affect your riding, your confidence and increase the risk of future injury.

As someone who has spent years around horses and understands the demands riding places on your body, I know how important it is to get you feeling strong, balanced and comfortable again.

If you’ve had a fall recently—or even months ago—and something still doesn’t feel quite right, don’t ignore it.

📍Book an assessment at S2S Physiotherapy and let’s get you back in the saddle feeling your best.

🐴 Why does it matter if your physio understands horses?

Coming back to a review from a while ago to show how understanding sports and hobbies from personal experience can make all the difference.

Horse riding places unique demands on the body. It’s a sport that requires balance, strength, coordination and the ability to move with a powerful, unpredictable animal so it helps to be treated by someone who truly understands what riding involves.

Lisa has spent years riding, competing and showing horses herself. That means she doesn’t just understand the injuries – she understands how they happen, what your body needs to do in the saddle, and what it takes to get you back riding safely.

Some of the most common riding injuries we see include:
🐎 Lower back pain
🐎 Neck pain and whiplash after falls
🐎 Hip and pelvic pain
🐎 Shoulder injuries
🐎 Knee pain
🐎 Wrist and hand injuries
🐎 Muscle strains and ligament sprains
🐎 Concussion and post-fall rehabilitation

Every rider’s treatment plan is tailored to them and may include:
✔️ Hands-on physiotherapy
✔️ Dry needling to release tight muscles
✔️ Sports massage
✔️ Shockwave therapy for persistent tendon pain
✔️ Strength and stability rehabilitation
✔️ Mobility work
✔️ Return-to-riding programmes designed around your goals

Whether you’re recovering from a fall, struggling with ongoing aches after riding, or looking to improve your strength and performance in the saddle, working with a physio who understands the equestrian world can make all the difference.

Because getting you back doing what you love isn’t just about healing the injury—it’s about understanding the sport.

Stress related headaches?

These points around the forehead and temple target muscles that are often overlooked but can play a significant role in:
✔️ Tension headaches
✔️ Migraines (where muscle tension is a contributing factor)
✔️ Jaw clenching and TMJ discomfort
✔️ Facial muscle tightness
✔️ Stress-related tension

By releasing tight trigger points, dry needling may help reduce muscle tension, improve local blood flow and decrease pain, allowing the muscles to relax and move more comfortably.

Many people who suffer with headaches don’t realise that tight muscles in the face, temples, neck and jaw can all contribute to their symptoms. That’s why we always carry out a thorough assessment to identify the source of your pain before deciding if dry needling is the right treatment for you.

At S2S Physiotherapy, dry needling forms part of a personalised treatment plan and may be combined with hands-on therapy, rehabilitation exercises and advice to help you achieve longer-lasting results.

📍If headaches, jaw pain or facial tension are affecting your day-to-day life, get in touch to see if dry needling could help.

Why the Dead Bug is one of the best Pilates exercises for your core 💚

Don’t let the name fool you—the Dead Bug is one of the most effective Pilates exercises for building a strong, functional core.

Unlike exercises that focus on the six-pack muscles, the Dead Bug targets your deep core muscles, including the transverse abdominis, pelvic floor and muscles that support your spine. These are the muscles responsible for creating stability from the inside out.

A strong deep core can help:
✔ Improve posture and spinal alignment
✔ Reduce back and neck pain
✔ Improve balance and coordination
✔ Support recovery from injury
✔ Make everyday movements feel easier and more controlled

At S2S Physiotherapy, we don’t just treat pain—we help you build a body that’s stronger and more resilient for the long term.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, returning after having a baby, looking to improve your fitness, or simply want to move better, our Pilates sessions are designed to meet you where you are.

We offer:
💚 Pilates alongside your physiotherapy treatment for a truly personalised approach.
💚 Express Pilates sessions—perfect if you’re squeezing movement into your lunch break.
💚 Small group classes for men, mums, or women who’d rather build strength with a friend in a welcoming, supportive environment.

Helping you go from strength to strength.

One of the most rewarding parts of being a physiotherapist is bringing care directly to those who need it most.

I recently heading out on a home visit to see a client who is unable to attend the clinic due to age-related mobility challenges. Home visits are reserved for individuals who genuinely cannot leave their homes safely or comfortably, ensuring they can still access the physiotherapy support they need.

As we get older, reduced mobility can have a significant impact on independence, confidence, and overall quality of life. Common issues I help manage during home visits include improving balance, falls prevention, arthritis, joint stiffness, muscle weakness, reduced mobility and recovery after illness or surgery.

Physiotherapy at home allows treatment to be tailored to the environment where daily activities actually take place. This means we can work on practical goals such as getting in and out of a chair safely, navigating stairs, improving walking confidence, reducing pain, and maintaining independence for as long as possible.

Helping people stay active, safe, and independent in their own homes is incredibly important—and it’s a privilege to be part of that journey.

If you know someone who could benefit from our home visits please share or contact the clinic to find out more.

Hi, I’m Lisa Corallini 👋

I’m a certified physiotherapist and sports injury rehabilitator based in Sawbridgeworth, with over 20 years of experience helping people get back to doing what they love.

My journey started long before physiotherapy — with Taekwondo and horse riding, my first passions in sport. Those early experiences sparked my love for movement and performance, which later led me into powerlifting and strongwoman competitions, where I went on to achieve multiple World and British records. A 1st at Europe’s Strongest Woman and a 4th at World’s Strongest Woman.

But behind the achievements was a different story. Years of training while managing hypermobility meant constant injuries and setbacks — and like so many others, I struggled to find the right support. That’s what drove me to become a physio: to help people who feel unheard, overlooked, or stuck in cycles of pain — especially those with hypermobility who still don’t always get the care they need.

I’m also a mum of two boys, and although they may be grown up now, I know just how challenging it can be to juggle work, life, and parenthood. So often, injuries get pushed aside — and that’s something I’m passionate about changing.

That’s why I offer more than just physiotherapy. I take a whole body and mind approach to help you get back to your best in a way that actually fits your life. Whether that’s:
• Combining strength training with your rehab plan
• Supporting new mums with Pilates and nutrition to aid recovery
• Creating simple, realistic plans that take the stress out of daily life
• Or even home visits for the elderly who can’t leave the house

Because recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all — and neither is life.

If you’ve ever felt like your body isn’t being properly understood, you’re not alone 🤍
