FIRST AID: MYTH OR FACT?

❌ “You need to be trained before you can use an AED.”

MYTH!

AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) are designed so that anyone can use them in an emergency — even if you've never had formal training.

Once switched on, the AED gives you clear, step-by-step instructions. It analyses the person's heart rhythm and tells you exactly what to do next.

⚡ You can't accidentally shock someone who doesn't need it — the AED will only advise a shock when an appropriate rhythm is detected.

So if someone suffers a cardiac arrest and there's an AED nearby, don't be afraid to use it.

Of course, knowing what to expect can make a huge difference to your confidence. That's where training comes in.
