A very Happy Friday from Christies Care and our mascot Dougie Dog, who turned 2 yesterday! ๐Ÿฅณ

There are many wonderful benefits to receiving care at home, but one we sometimes overlook is being able to keep our little companions who mean so much to us in life.

There to greet you in the morning, curled up beside you while watching TV in the evening, or just keeping you company throughout the day, pets are part of the family too. And with care at home, you can stay in the place you love, with the ones you love, furry friends included! ๐Ÿก๐Ÿถ

What makes Christies Carers special? We have a million reasons. This is one.

"Whenever I am asked for feedback, I struggle as I ran out of superlatives to describe Maria and her amazing care of my mother ages ago! BUT she has even managed somehow to surpass herself this month."

Thank you to Maria, and every Christies Carer who continuously show such kindness, compassion, and consideration towards your clients.

Our Local Area Manager, Imogen, was invited by our clients to visit them on their day out at the Scadbury Centre in Chislehurst. ๐ŸŒฟ

Scadbury is a wellbeing-focused social and therapeutic horticulture hub where adults with learning disabilities can grow, learn and thrive through nature, creativity and connection. They care for chickens, honey producing bees, and those who visit can grow their own fruit and vegetables and take home what they've grown! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿ…

There was plenty going on during the visit! Our clients were busy gardening, getting creative with arts and crafts, working with wood and making their own hoop game.

It was fantastic to see such a welcoming environment where people can build confidence, develop skills and enjoy meaningful activities as part of their local community. ๐Ÿ’™

We could not be prouder of our team! 9.9 from 208 client reviews is exceptional. Thank you to every Christies Carer who does their job to the best of their ability, and with a smile.
Thank you to everyone in the office working behind the scenes, and finally, thank you to every client who has reviewed us. We appreciate your feedback more than you know.

Have you ever wondered what you would do if the CQC contacted you as a carer? ๐Ÿ‘‡

In 2025, the CQC conducted carer focus groups that found that most carers did not know how to act during a CQC inspection.

No carer should feel stressed or nervous about this process, or being contacted by a CQC inspector. This guide helps break down what the CQC does, what the inspections involve, and what is expected of carers.

They may ask the following, Honesty is most important!
๐ŸŸฃ What you enjoy about your role?
๐ŸŸฃ Your experience of raising concerns.
๐ŸŸฃ How you support people day-to-day.
๐ŸŸฃ The support you get in your role.

Does your medication need to be stored below 30 degrees?

Medication can become ineffective if it is not stored correctly or exceeds its temperature limits. With another hot spell heading our way midweek, we want to remind you to read your storage instructions and temperature requirements for your medications, including inhalers.

We said goodbye to our lovely Polstead Community Natter attendees on Wednesday, BUT... our work does not end here!

For the last four months, we have loved becoming better acquainted with the local community, meeting so many wonderful Polstead residents, and being given the opportunity to give back and provide a free service.

While our Polstead group may no longer be a monthly town fixture, we will still be very active in Polstead, continuing to provide live-in and hourly care services to our clients and providing free care advice and signposting to anyone in need of local community support services.

This group showed us how impactful our community work can be, and we look forward to continuing with our Ixworth Community Natter starting next Friday the 14th of August!

For anyone seeking community advice, groups, activities, or support services across Suffolk and North Essex, contact our Christies Care Team. If we cannot help you, we will know someone who can.
