What an absolutely amazing afternoon we had for our Royal Celebration Party with the beautiful Tower Princess from The Princess Parade 👑🧚🏼‍♀️🪩 today.

We welcomed 35 beautiful Princesses, 5 handsome Princes and Buzz Lightyear to our party and everyone had so much fun playing party games, making bracelets, colouring pictures and having hair glitter applied.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us, especially to the servants and chauffeurs of the mini Royals! We hope you enjoyed spending time with us at St Andrew’s URC Scarborough

In an age where keeping people safe is paramount, our entrances have to be secure - and the big, closed wooden doors can look off-putting.

We want people to know that we are very much OPEN and ready to WELCOME everybody, so today we have taken delivery of these beautiful new signs for all of our entrance gates to show people how they can gain access to St Andrew’s when we have things going on!

Huge thanks to the team at Adverset Print & Signage for the extremely quick turnaround of these products.

This morning, we heard the story of Ishmael and his mother Hagar (Genesis 21: 8-21). Through the story of Ishmael, we are reminded that God’s love is fiercely inclusive, extending to those who have been cast out, forgotten by society, or wandering without a home.

When Ishmael and his mother Hagar were exiled into the harsh desert, they faced the ultimate form of homelessness - left without any shelter, security, and a place within their community.

Yet, in their moments of deepest desperation and abandonment, God did not overlook them; He actively heard the boy’s cries, opened his mother’s eyes to a life-saving well of water, and promised to make Ishmael a great nation.

This story serves as a powerful reminder that God’s love does not depend on social status, privilege, or a permanent address. It directly mirrors the plight of homeless individuals today, demonstrating that those who are marginalised and invisible to society remain fully seen, protected, and deeply cherished by our Lord.

Coincidentally, after the service, two young homeless people arrived at St Andrew’s, actually looking for a local crisis centre. We gave them directions to get there, but before they left, we invited them in and gave them hot drinks and biscuits. We spoke with them and made sure they felt immersed in God’s love before leaving. God brought them to our door, we opened the door and we welcomed them into our community.
