Wilson & Cooper Funeral Directors, like funeral professionals across the United Kingdom, were deeply saddened, shocked and distressed by the actions of Robert Bush and Legacy Funeral Directors in Hull.
As a profession, funeral directors are entrusted with caring for the deceased and supporting bereaved families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. The overwhelming majority of funeral professionals carry out this responsibility with compassion, dignity, integrity and the utmost respect, often going above and beyond to provide the highest standard of care.
The actions of Robert Bush have caused immense pain to the affected families and have understandably damaged public confidence in a profession built on trust. However, these actions are in no way representative of the thousands of dedicated funeral professionals across the country who work tirelessly every day to uphold the highest ethical and professional standards.
At Wilson & Cooper Funeral Directors, we are proud to be members of the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) and to participate in its SAIF inspection and quality assurance programme. We willingly adhere to the organisation’s rigorous rules, regulations and professional standards, and undergo regular comprehensive inspections
These inspections cover every aspect of our business, including the care of those entrusted to us within our mortuary facilities, the management of cremated remains, our records and documentation, and our operational procedures. We are proud to say that we have successfully met these exacting standards year after year, as have our fellow SAIF & National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) funeral directors throughout Scunthorpe and the surrounding areas.
We are proud to be part of SAIF and remain fully committed to maintaining the highest levels of professionalism, accountability and care. Furthermore, we support the introduction of stronger and more comprehensive regulation across the funeral sector. We believe that robust, consistent standards and independent oversight are essential to restoring and maintaining the public’s confidence, ensuring that every family can place their trust in the funeral profession with complete reassurance.
Our thoughts remain with all of the families affected by these events. Wilson & Cooper Funeral Directors remain committed to providing transparent, respectful and compassionate care, ensuring that every individual entrusted to us is treated with the dignity they deserve and that every family receives the honesty, support and reassurance they should rightly expect.
