🌸🇯🇵 AROUND THE WORLD — JAPAN! 🇯🇵🌸

We’ve had such an exciting morning exploring Japan at Creative Kids! 🎨🌏

We started by discovering some of the things that make Japan unique, looking at Japanese buildings, cherry blossom trees, koi fish, origami and the Japanese flag, while talking about how life and culture can be different around the world 🌸🏯🐟

Then we headed to the park armed with our chalks… and we certainly left our mark! 😂🎨

The children transformed the park with their own Japanese-inspired creations, from cherry blossom trees and koi fish to flags and colourful patterns. We loved seeing them take what they had learned and turn it into their own artwork ❤️

And we’re not finished yet!

This afternoon we’ll be creating our own colourful koi fish 🐟 and having a go at origami! 🐱📄

We can’t wait to see where their creativity takes us next! ✨🌏

🦁🌅 Safari Day at Creative Kids Holiday Club 🌿🐘

Today we had a fantastic day exploring our Safari theme through art, games, imaginative play and creativity!

🌅 We started with our Safari Sunset Paintings, using watercolours to blend colours to create beautiful sunsets. It was lovely to see how much progress some of our children have made this summer with colour theory, watercolour techniques and brushstrokes - it really showed in their artwork today 🎨😍

While our sunsets dried, the children created safari animal silhouettes and some added trees and other details. We then combined these with our backgrounds to create some really impressive safari scenes 🦁🦒🐘

The children also enjoyed bringing the safari to life in our tuff tray, using play animals, vehicles and camo nets to create their own adventures.

🧰 In the afternoon, they used a range of materials to create their very own safari animals, before working together to build safari parks for them!

We were so impressed with the children’s creativity, teamwork and curiosity today. Another brilliant day at Creative Kids, well done all! 💚🦁

🌈VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Are you a young creative who wants to gain experience in the arts and make a difference?

We are looking for young volunteers (16-25) to help bring Scunthorpe Pride YOUTH ZONE to life! You'll be at the heart of the event helping create art and crafts for our young visitors.

The group is hosted by 20-21's Youth Ambassador Theo. A recruitment session will take place at 20-21 Visual Arts Centre on Thursday 20 August 10am to 12pm.

What will you get our of volunteering

✨Get experience behind the scenes of an art gallery
✨Help create a welcoming and exclusive pride

No experience necessary. To apply simply turn up to 20-21 Visual Arts Centre on Thursday 20 August 10am to 12pm. You must also be available Saturday 29 August for the event. See you there!

It’s nearly time for our final adventure of the summer at Creative Kids! Next week, we’ll be travelling around the world through animals, creativity and different cultures, with a different adventure each day! 🌎🐾

🦁 TUESDAY — AFRICA: SAFARI PARK
🌸 WEDNESDAY — JAPAN: KOI POND & ART
🌴 THURSDAY — AMAZON: RAINFOREST

🐾 We’ll have animal-themed activities every day, while exploring the amazing places, cultures and creativity of Africa, Japan and the Amazon! 🌍✨

One final week of summer… let’s make it a good one! 🦁🌸🌴

We spotted some of the Scunthorpe Bear Hunt bears on our park trip last week and the children loved them 🐻❤️

Such a lovely opportunity for some creative fun and a chance for children to work with professional artists.. and best of all, they’re free! 🎨✨

🌟🦸‍♀️ SUPERHERO WEEK! 🦸‍♂️🌟

The children have been busy creating their very own superhero identities — thinking about their superhero names, powers and what their superheroes would stand for ❤️

They’ve:
🛡️ Designed their own superhero shields
🎭 Created superhero masks
🪂 Made and tested superhero parachutes
✨ Received glitter tattoos to give them their own special powers
🪄 Designed and played with superhero magic slates
🔥 Explored our superhero tuff tray, getting stuck into different textures and making ‘fire balls’
🏙️ Created a colourful skyline for their superheroes to fly through!

What an action-packed day!🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️💥

First of all, a HUGE congratulations to Charlotte and Alistair, who were our joint winners of the superhero shield competition after receiving exactly the same number of votes! They each chose a prize, while everyone else who entered also received a smaller prize for taking part - well done to all!

The children carefully planned their superhero identities today, thinking about their names, powers and what their shields would protect them from. Many then carried the same theme through to their scratch-art masks and superhero parachutes, even creating a catchphrase for their superhero to say as they came down 🪂

We also had lots of superhero play and plenty of opportunities for imagination and creativity. Well done, little superheroes! 🦸‍♂️✨
