From start to finish we were treated with care, compassion and understanding at the most difficult time of our lives as we said farewell to our adored mum. Nothing was too much trouble and I feel they went over and above. Mum looked beautiful when we went to see her in the chapel of rest and we could visit as we wished.

Everything was beyond perfect and mum would have loved the service that was held for her. The whole teams knowledge and professionalism shone throughout. Would highly recommend to all. Thankyou again for making the most unbearable time just that little bit easier.

🕊️🤍 A final journey that reflected the gentleman himself.

Recently, Alfie had the privilege of conducting the funeral of a much-loved gentleman whose two great passions were line dancing and Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Those parts of his life were thoughtfully brought into his farewell. His boots were placed on his coffin, while a Harley-Davidson motorcycle hearse with a custom sidecar carried him on his final journey.

It was personal, distinctive and completely fitting for someone who had lived with those interests and passions as such an important part of his life.

These are the details that can make a funeral feel truly personal. They tell people something about the person being remembered and give family and friends a farewell that feels right for them.

At Ashby Funeral Care, we will always take the time to listen to what mattered to someone and, wherever possible, help families bring those personal touches into their funeral.

Because the way somebody lived their life can also be reflected in the way we say goodbye.

A week of work experience that could be the start of something much bigger.

Last month, we had the pleasure of welcoming Reuben Berry from Caistor Grammar School to Ashby Funeral Care for a week of work experience.

Reuben had done his own research into the funeral profession and, after seeing the route our own Alfie is taking, approached us because he wanted to learn more about the industry for himself.

A funeral home is very different from most work experience placements. Reuben was introduced to the realities of the profession and found himself in situations that require maturity, respect and an understanding of the responsibility we have to the families in our care.

He carried himself extremely well throughout the week, getting involved in different areas of the business and gaining a genuine insight into what working within the funeral profession involves.

To round off his week, Reuben also successfully completed his Funeral Service Awareness Training, which was a great achievement and something he should be proud of.

It’s encouraging to see someone so young taking the initiative to explore a career that interests him, and credit must also go to his parents for supporting him in doing so.

At Ashby Funeral Care, Simon is already a qualified Funeral Director, while Alfie continues to take the steps towards becoming one himself. If we can use that experience to give young people like Reuben an opportunity to learn about the profession and decide whether it could be the right path for them, we’re more than happy to do so.

A special thank you to Alfie, who was exceptional throughout. He was kind, patient and supportive, always checking that we were okay, listening to everything we wanted, and making sure every detail was just right. Nothing was ever too much trouble.

The funeral was organised perfectly and was a beautiful, fitting tribute to my mum. Everything was carried out with such dignity and care, and we felt supported every step of the way.
