I get asked now and again why I started teaching yoga, and the truth is... I just wanted to share something that's helped me so much.
Yoga came into my life at a time when I needed it, and over the years, it's become about so much more than stretching or trying to get into fancy poses. It's helped me slow down, switch off from the constant rush, and feel stronger, both physically and mentally.
When I decided to teach, it was never because I thought I had all the answers. It was because I wanted to create the kind of classes I'd love to go to myself. A space where there's no pressure to be bendy, no judgement, and no expectation to be anything other than yourself.
One thing I always say is that every yoga teacher is different. We all bring our own personality, life experience and training into our classes, and that's exactly how it should be. What clicks with one person might not click with another, and that's absolutely fine. It's all about finding the teacher and the style that feels right for you.
If you've been to one of my classes, you'll know I'm not interested in perfection. I want you to leave feeling a wee bit lighter, a wee bit stronger, and maybe having had an hour where they could properly switch off from everything else that's going on.
For me, yoga isn't about touching your toes. It's about how you feel when you walk back out the door.
And if I can help even one person find that feeling, then that's exactly why I teach. 🤍
