Does life ever seem to suddenly speed up?

Projects gain momentum. Decisions arrive. Opportunities appear. Everything starts moving at once.
The question is: do we get swept away by the current, or can we step to the bank for a moment and check we're still heading in the right direction? Sometimes slowing down is what helps us move forward.
