✨ 25+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE, LEARNING & EVOLUTION ✨
I don’t often stop and talk about my own journey, but recently I’ve found myself reflecting on just how many years of hard work, training, experience and continual learning sit behind what I do today.
My journey began in 2000, when I first qualified in Beauty, Nails and Skin.
That was over 25 years ago, and I have worked within the industry ever since.
Over those years, I’ve had the privilege of training with some amazing educators and professionals, continually adding to my knowledge and progressing into more advanced areas.
My journey has included:

But qualifications only tell part of my story.
I've also spent 25+ years actually doing it.
Throughout my career, I have remained self-employed and run my own businesses, including during periods when I was also employed within both private and public-sector organisations.
I've worked mobile.
I've worked from rented treatment rooms.
I've worked from a purpose-built home clinic.
And I spent 10 years owning and running my own successful business in Snaith.
I've built client bases, managed appointments, purchased products and equipment, invested in training, adapted to changes within the industry and experienced first-hand the responsibility that comes with being both a practitioner and a business owner.
I've also had the opportunity to work within healthcare and the NHS, including clinically on wards and within outpatient environments.
That experience gave me another dimension to my professional development and reinforced the importance of patient safety, infection prevention, aseptic technique, accurate documentation, professional boundaries and duty of care.
And after all these years, one thing matters enormously to me — being genuine.
I am a genuine person and I believe in being honest, transparent and ethical in the way I practise.
When somebody chooses me for a treatment, I want them to know they are receiving a genuine professional service.
No shortcuts.
No cutting corners.
No doing something simply because somebody is willing to pay for it.
I will explain what I believe is appropriate, what can realistically be achieved and, equally importantly, when I believe something shouldn't be done.
Sometimes being an ethical practitioner means saying no.
Sometimes it means postponing a treatment.
Sometimes it means asking further questions or seeking advice from another appropriately qualified professional.
And sometimes it means deciding that proceeding simply isn't the right thing to do.
I would rather lose the income from a treatment than compromise someone's safety or the professional standards I've spent more than two decades building.
Experience has also taught me something else:
Nobody knows everything.
I certainly don't claim to.
Industries change. Techniques develop. Guidance evolves. New evidence emerges.
A responsible professional continues learning, continues asking questions, recognises the limits of their own competence and isn't afraid to seek advice.
That's something I have done throughout my career and will continue to do.
And now I'm sharing some of that experience with others.
After gaining my IOSH and NEBOSH qualifications, I've been able to combine another area of my professional experience — health, safety, risk and compliance — with my knowledge of beauty, aesthetics, healthcare and running businesses.
That has recently led me to create my own clinic compliance manual and management toolkit, designed to help like-minded professionals organise their businesses, understand their responsibilities and work towards being inspection-ready.
It's something I'm incredibly proud of because it brings together knowledge and practical experience accumulated across more than 25 years.
When I look back, my career hasn't been one straight line.
It's been 25+ years of businesses, clients, treatments, healthcare, qualifications, advanced training, successes, challenges, learning and evolution.
Qualified in Beauty, Nails & Skin since 2000.
PMU since 2018.
Aesthetics since 2020.
Advanced Aesthetics training.
131+ services and treatments.
10 years running my Snaith business.
25+ years self-employed.
Public & private-sector experience.
NHS clinical experience.
IOSH & NEBOSH qualified.
And after all of that, I'm still learning.
I'm proud of the career I've built, proud of the standards I work to and proud that I'm now in a position where I can share some of what I've learned with others.
But most importantly, I'm proud that after 25+ years, the principles behind what I do remain very simple:
Be genuine. Be honest. Be ethical. Keep learning. And always put professional standards and client safety first. 🤍
