💙 Carers Week is nearly here (8th–14th June)! 💙

At Scott Road Medical Centre, we want to say a massive thank you to all the incredible unpaid carers in our community who look after a family member, partner, or friend. Your dedication is invaluable, but we know that caring for someone else can also take a toll on your own health and wellbeing. Please remember that we are here to support you too.

If you provide unpaid care, let our reception team know so we can register you as a carer on your medical record—this helps us give you access to flexible appointments, health checks, and tailored support.

Last month 97.3% of patients attended their appointments. Thankyou for keeping your appointment.
However, 2.7% did not attend their appointments. ❌
If you can’t attend your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible.
This helps us offer the slot to another patient who needs care — thank you for helping us help others.

Our Practice Statistics - May 2026:
• 2197 GP appointments & 1429 Nurse appointments offered!
• 10264 telephone calls answered by our amazing reception team
• We welcomed 59 new patients to Scott Road!
• We sent 378 referrals to community services!
• We sent 3849 prescriptions to the pharmacy for our patients, by our fantastic admin team
• Unfortunately 105 patients Did Not Attend their appointment - Please can this be a reminder to cancel an appointment if you cannot make it so that we can offer it to somebody else

This May, our practice is backing the challenge. It’s completely free, and you can join in at your own pace.

3 easy ways to fit 20 minutes of walking into your day:
1️⃣ Ditch the car keys for short trips to the local shops or school run.
2️⃣ Take a 'walk and talk' break during your lunchtime or while catching up with a friend.
3️⃣ Get off the bus one stop early and walk the rest of your journey.

If you need medical assistance over the Bank Holiday period, please call 111, or 999 if it is a medical emergency.

If you have run out of your medication, which is on repeat prescription you can contact 111 or go to a Community Pharmacy which may be able to provide you with an emergency supply

🦓 May is Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD) Awareness Month.

At Scott Road Medical Centre, we’re joining the global community to "Make May Matter." EDS and HSD are a group of genetic conditions that affect the body’s connective tissues—the "glue" that supports our skin, joints, and organs.

Did you know?
• There are 13 different types of EDS, ranging from hypermobile EDS (the most common) to rarer, life-threatening forms like vascular EDS.
• It is estimated that hEDS and HSD may affect as many as 1 in 500 people.
• Because symptoms can be "invisible," many patients wait years for a correct diagnosis.
