♡ Emotions According to TCM ♡

For thousands of years, Traditional Chinese Medicine has recognised a connection between our emotions and the body's organ systems.

Emotions are considered a normal and essential part of life. However, when they become intense, prolonged, or remain unresolved, they can disrupt the smooth flow of Qi (energy) and contribute to patterns of disharmony within the body.

🌿 Anger → Liver
Can cause Liver Qi stagnation or, if prolonged, Liver Yang rising or Liver Fire. This may present as tension, headaches, irritability, mood swings, or digestive symptoms.

🌿 Joy (when excessive) → Heart
Excessive excitement or overstimulation can affect the Heart and Shen (mind/spirit), contributing to restlessness, insomnia, anxiety, or difficulty concentrating.

🌿 Worry & overthinking → Spleen
Can weaken the Spleen and impair its function of transforming and transporting food and fluids, often presenting as bloating, fatigue, poor appetite, loose stools, or brain fog.

🌿 Grief & sadness → Lungs
Can weaken Lung Qi, sometimes leading to shallow breathing, low energy, increased susceptibility to illness, or a sense of emotional heaviness.

🌿 Fear → Kidneys
Can cause Kidney Qi to descend and, over time, weaken Kidney Qi. This may contribute to exhaustion, feeling unsettled, low resilience, or urinary symptoms in some people.

The aim in TCM isn't to avoid emotions, it's to acknowledge them, process them, and allow them to move through us without becoming stuck.

The more I learn about this medicine, the more it amazes me ✨
