Moira Wedel - Equine Bodywork - for Horse & Rider

Moira Wedel - Equine Bodywork - for Horse & Rider EMMETT Technique Advanced Practitioner for Horses and Humans. EMMETT Technique works on muscle and soft tissue.

Using an effective, gentle and safe muscle release therapy to relax and calm, address pain and discomfort and improve body movement. Just like with people, tight and sore muscles in horses can have many causes; daily exercise, playing in the field, strenuous exertion and even aging. If an animal has tight and restricted muscles, or if they are in discomfort, this will often show up in their perfor

mance and sometimes in their behaviour too. Animals tend to compensate to relieve pressure on the affected area and if left untreated that can lead to problems developing in other areas of the body. Animal conditions that be successfully treated using EMMETT therapy include:

• Injuries from sport or accidents
• Unbalanced gait/stance
• Lead/harness strain
• Lower back distress
• Inhibited movement
• Poor performance
• Behaviour changes
• Stiffness/decreased suppleness
• Unbalanced head carriage
• Saddle soreness/girthing issues
• Tension in back and lumbar area
• Restricted forward movement
• Standing short or uneven
• Stiff through the legs/dragging feet
• Poor performance/behaviour
• Stiffness/decreased suppleness

As much as EMMETT can benefit a horse, if the rider is also experiencing areas of tension or restriction it will impact their effectiveness in the saddle and problems will continue. There is a clear relationship between supple horses who move freely and in balance, and their riders who are flexible, and have good core strength. Conversely riders with physical issues of their own may restrict the horse’s movement or put muscles under strain. As a result, when I visit a horse I often end up treating the rider too!

Really looking forward to running this workshop together with Gems Horton as part of her journey to becoming a certified Tutor for EMMETT 4 Horses… it’s been ages since I ran a workshop for people brand new to this amazing therapy as my focus has been on instructor training. It’s going to be fun!!

Last chance to sign up for this workshop on Sunday 24th May in Stourport. This is a fantastic day of learning about the technique and its use on horses, and it counts for CPD for all practitioners, tutors and instructors of EMMETT Technique too!

Horses, dogs, people, any and all creatures get muscle tension at some point and it doesn’t always get better on its own. Give it some gentle help with EMMETT technique.

🚪 Don't just force the door open.

When a joint feels stuck, the instinct is often to stretch or pull harder. The EMMETT Technique looks at the muscles acting as the 'hinge' and uses a light touch to release the tension holding it back.

✨ Restore: natural range of motion.
🗝️ Release: change without the 'rebound' tightness of high force moves.

Find your fluid movement again.

The way the animal reacts to EMMETT often astonishes their owner. But the real magic is in how they can often show immediate relaxation in tension that can have been held for years. You can read more client testimonials on our website.

🐎 From the beach donkeys of England to the arenas of Australia.

Today the spotlight is on Rebecca Cooper from ReQuest Soft Tissue Therapies. Her journey began with a childhood obsession that spanned continents, eventually leading her from a long IT career back to her true passion: equine wellbeing.

After 10 years as an Instructor, Rebecca’s lightbulb moment remains a standout - applying a human rib release to her own horse with astonishing results. Today, as an EMMETT 4 Horses Instructor, she focuses on:

🟡 The 18th Rib/QL move - a cornerstone of the Level 1 horse course for easing tension.
🟡 Pre and post competition support - maintaining soundness and performance.
🟡 Horse wellbeing - empowering owners with the hands-on skills needed to support their horse's happiness and longevity.

A lifelong rider who currently cares for three horses of her own, Rebecca believes every horse owner should have these simple, effective tools in their repertoire. For her, it is about giving owners the practical skills to support their horse's comfort every day.
