World Su***de Prevention Day 💙

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.

No one should face a mental health problem alone. If you’re struggling, feeling overwhelmed or finding things difficult right now, please know that support is available.

At West Kent Mind, we’re here to listen, support and help adults and children in our community towards better mental health.

And if you’re worried about someone else, reaching out and starting a conversation can make a difference. You don’t need to have all the answers, sometimes simply being there and listening matters.

Today, and every day, let’s remind each other... you are not alone.

🎄WE KNOW, WE KNOW… IT’S TOO EARLY! 🎄

No one is quite ready to say goodbye to summer ☀️, dig out the Christmas jumpers or hear the first jingle of sleigh bells… so don’t panic! 😂

This is simply your official warning to SAVE THE DATE! 📅

Mental Elf Festive Fun Run
📅 Saturday 14th November
📍 Tunbridge Wells
⏰ From 9.30am
🏃 5km, run or walk, everyone is welcome!

This year, elves will be taking over Tunbridge Wells for 5km of festive fun, silliness and Christmas cheer. Expect elves. Expect laughter. Expect questionable festive outfits. ✨🎄

That’s all we’re saying for now… because frankly, early September is FAR too early to start talking properly about Christmas!

So pop the date in your diary, go back to enjoying the last of the sunshine, and we’ll be back with all the details in a few weeks when everyone is slightly more emotionally prepared for the festive season.

SAVE THE DATE — SATURDAY 14TH NOVEMBER! 🎄🏃‍♀️

💙 September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month.

Talking about su***de can feel difficult. But having the confidence to start a conversation, listen without judgement and know where to find support can make a real difference.

At West Kent Mind, we believe su***de prevention is something we can all play a part in. Our Su***de Awareness & Prevention workshops are available to adults across West Kent. The sessions are designed to help you:

• Increase your understanding of su***de prevention and risk
• Feel more confident supporting someone who may be in crisis
• Know how and where to signpost someone for further support

Whether you’re a colleague, friend, family member, teacher, community member or simply someone who wants to feel better equipped to help, this training is for you.

This Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, take some time to learn. You never know when that knowledge might matter. 💙

Sometimes, someone just pops into your head. 💙

Take that as your little reminder to check in.

A simple “How are you doing?”, “Thinking of you” or “Fancy a chat?” could change their day, and even open the door to a conversation that helps them feel less alone.

Who could you check in with today?

🎨 GET CREATIVE THIS SUMMER! ✨
Is your 11-15 year old looking for something a little different to do this summer?
We’re running a FREE Creative Wellbeing Project for young people aged 11–15 in the Sevenoaks area.
No need to be “good at art”. No pressure. Just bring yourself and a bit of curiosity.

Supported by two West Kent Mind wellbeing workers, young people will have the chance to:
* Get creative and try something new
* Connect with nature and the outdoors
* Explore thoughts, feelings and interests
* Try simple techniques to help them feel calm and grounded
* Build confidence through hands-on activities
* Spend time with other young people in a relaxed, supportive space

📅 Monday 24 & Tuesday 25 August
Choose your session and come at the same time on both days:
⏰ 10am–12pm OR 1pm–3pm

Activities are flexible and can be adapted for different communication styles, learning needs and comfort levels.

✨ Two sessions for creativity, nature and imagination — completely FREE.

Here, Heather shares the powerful impact our Creative Minds programme has had on her life.

After experiencing anxiety and struggling with confidence, taking part has helped her grow, connect with others and become more socially confident.

Heather’s story is a wonderful reminder that community programmes are about so much more than activities, they create friendships, build confidence and give people a real sense of belonging. 💛
