Reuben’s birth created something of a love affair for me with homeopathy.
He was considered ‘overdue’ and the midwife was attempting to encourage us to consider an induction - something which I was adamantly against.
I knew he was merely choosing his moment.
But slowly fear started to creep in, as his measurements failed to change in the last two weeks and I began to worry that what I felt to be true within my heart and soul may not actually be in alignment with what was best for him.
And it’s a heavy weight to carry, knowing that your choice will directly impact your child.
Thankfully, a conversation with Camilla Fone | Nutritional Alchemy lead me to try homeopathy.
She told me that she’d taken it when one of her children were ‘overdue’ and he’d arrived the same night!
So after a tearful meeting with the midwife, I did my research and picked two which resonated - those that were focusing on fearful, overwhelmed emotions - and waited until the next day to begin taking them.
Low and behold, by the next day contractions started and within seven hours Reuben arrived Earth side, straight into Josh’s awaiting arms in our bathroom at home.
Happy, healthy, and ready to feed!
I didn’t need any more convincing after that!
Since then I’ve continued to incorporate homeopathy into our day-to-day lives.
I took Arnica during labour and combined it with Hypericum in the weeks after childbirth to support recovery.
Nux Vomica became a staple in the first few months, to help with Reuben’s digestive upsets - especially after I’d indulged in spicy foods…
And now that he’s teething, we give him Chamomilla directly, which almost instantly calms him down.
I just love how something as simple and natural as homeopathy can have such a profound impact. Showing that we don’t (always) need interference, sometimes we just need attunement.
