Today I taught my last day time class for the summer, very aptly with these two sweet souls who were here at my very first class some 21 odd months ago. And whilst seasons have come and gone, these two have been as constant as the sun- a steady presence I feel so immensely grateful for. We spoke about the benefits of regular practice and between us we shared reflections on how yoga has: saved mental health, significantly reduced blood pressure, brought grounding, peace and comfort whilst navigating grief and loss and a deep feeling of calm to life. So important for these often overwhelming times we live in. With AI on the increase I am so grateful to share a practice with the world that is entirely based on natural intelligence - trusting the wisdom of the body, of the breath.
My friend says “It seems there is more to asana than meets the eye. Each pose doesn’t only provide the breath with new passage, clearing rubbish in the nadis, each pose also seems to be the enactment of a native quality of being.
So you can see how asana is a whole - body symbolic action. Asana, with the breath, is to conform the body to its natural divine form, to enact this form and all of its qualities.
Asana is the action / enactment of these native human capabilities / siddhis that are stifled by culture, thought and trauma.”
Until my dying day I will work tirelessly to promote this ancient system of natural intelligence and its ability to help support us through unpredictable modern times.
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me this year, who has shared their breath and song in the shed. I am thankful for each and everyone of you 🫶
