I’ve been absolutely delighted by the number of comments and suggestions following my recent post gauging interest in classes and activities at the village hall.

Here are the responses so far:

💃 Zumba – 19
🥋 Tai Chi – 29
💃 Line Dancing – 20
🧘 Pilates – 6
🧘‍♀️ Yoga – 5

And there has been a fantastic list of other classes and activities that you would love to see at our village hall, including:

• Over 50s Disco
• Children’s clubs
• Adult drama
• Belly dancing, Ceroc, tap and various other dance classes
• Indoor short tennis
• 5-a-side football
• Children’s drama
• Youth drama and musical theatre groups
• Bingo nights
• Baby groups
• Baby/toddler messy playgroups
• Puppy training classes

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to comment and share your ideas. It’s wonderful to see such enthusiasm and to get a better understanding of what our community would like to see at the village hall. ❤️

I have already contacted a couple of instructors to see if they would be interested, and I’m currently awaiting their responses.

Could you help us gauge interest? 🌟

We’d love to make more use of our lovely, air-conditioned Eastchurch Village Hall and are looking at the possibility of getting some new classes and activities running.

We’re particularly interested to know whether there would be enough local interest in sessions such as:

💃 Line Dancing
🧘 Tai Chi
💪 Zumba

If any of these appeal to you, please let us know in the comments — even if you’ve never tried them before! It would be really helpful to get an idea of numbers before approaching instructors and arranging sessions.

We currently have a monthly singing group, but sadly attendance from local residents has been quite low, so we’re now having to consider whether there is enough interest for the group to continue.

We’d really love to see the hall being used more regularly and offering activities for people in the village. ❤️

We also have lots of weekends available if anyone is looking for a lovely venue for a daytime event, gathering, class, workshop or other activity. The hall is spacious, comfortable and air-conditioned, so please get in touch if you’d like to find out more about hiring it.

Unfortunately, we are no longer able to accommodate evening parties, following the condition the hall was left in after a party last year. We hope everyone will understand that we need to protect and look after our community hall.

Our Hug In A Mug meet-up is the perfect chance to meet other locals, chat and, of course, enjoy a cuppa ☕️

Tracy Rogers will also be there! 😊 Tracy has been appointed to the Pride in Place Board, which will help decide how £20 million is invested across Sheppey East over the next 10 years. So, whether you have an idea, a question or want to find out more, come along and have a chat.
