Reasonable adjustments can help make healthcare more accessible for people with disabilities, learning disabilities, autism, sensory impairments, dementia and other long-term conditions ๐Ÿ’™

The NHS has a legal duty to make reasonable adjustments so that everyone can access healthcare services as easily as possible. These adjustments are tailored to the individual and can make a big difference to someone's experience and wellbeing. ๐ŸŒŸ

Examples of reasonable adjustments may include:
โœ… Longer appointment times
โœ… Easy Read information
โœ… Communication support or interpreters
โœ… A quiet place to wait
โœ… Accessible appointment letters
โœ… Support from a carer, family member or advocate
โœ… Flexible appointment times

If you think you may benefit from reasonable adjustments, speak to your GP practice or healthcare provider. Letting staff know about your needs can help ensure you receive the right support whenever you access NHS services. ๐Ÿ’™

Impetigo is a common and highly contagious skin infection that mainly affects babies and young children ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ’™

It usually starts with red sores or blisters that burst and leave crusty golden-brown patches on the skin. While impetigo is not usually serious, it can spread easily through close contact, towels, bedding and shared items โš ๏ธ

If you think your child may have impetigo, help is available through the NHS Pharmacy First service. A pharmacist can assess symptoms and, where appropriate, provide treatment without the need for a GP appointment ๐Ÿ’Š

Signs of impetigo can include:
๐Ÿ”น Red sores or blisters
๐Ÿ”น Itchy patches of skin
๐Ÿ”น Honey-coloured crusts forming over sores
๐Ÿ”น Sores commonly around the nose, mouth, hands or body

To help prevent the spread:
๐Ÿงผ Wash hands regularly
๐Ÿงผ Avoid sharing towels, bedding or clothing
๐Ÿงผ Keep affected areas clean
๐Ÿงผ Follow treatment advice from your pharmacist

If you receive an NHS screening invitation, don't ignore it โ€“ book it ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ“ฉ

NHS screening programmes are designed to identify potential health problems before symptoms appear, giving you the best chance of receiving treatment early if needed ๐Ÿฉบ

Screening is offered to different groups of people at different stages of life and can help detect conditions such as certain cancers, abdominal aortic aneurysms and other health concerns before they become more serious โš ๏ธ

Most screening tests are quick, simple and free through the NHS ๐Ÿ‘

Even if you feel well, it's important to attend when invited. Screening can provide reassurance or help identify problems early, when treatment is often more effective ๐Ÿ’™

If you've received a screening invitation, take a few moments to book your appointment. It could make a significant difference to your health and wellbeing ๐ŸŒŸ

Wondering when your baby might arrive? ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ’™

The NHS Due Date Calculator can give you an estimated due date based on the first day of your last menstrual period ๐Ÿ“…

While only a small number of babies arrive exactly on their due date, knowing your estimated due date can help you plan for appointments, prepare for your baby's arrival and understand your pregnancy timeline better ๐Ÿ‘

Your due date may be adjusted later based on your dating scan, which usually takes place between 10 and 14 weeks of pregnancy ๐Ÿฉบ

Remember, every pregnancy is different and babies can arrive before or after their estimated due date ๐Ÿ’ซ

If you think you may be pregnant or have questions about your pregnancy, speak to your midwife, GP or maternity team for support ๐Ÿ’™

As temperatures rise, it's important to know the signs of hyperthermia and heat-related illness โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Hyperthermia happens when your body becomes too hot and struggles to cool itself down. If left untreated, it can become serious and may require medical attention โš ๏ธ

Signs to watch for include:
โ€ข Dizziness or feeling light-headed ๐Ÿ˜ต
โ€ข Muscle cramps ๐Ÿ’ช
โ€ข Swollen feet or ankles ๐Ÿ‘ฃ
โ€ข Feeling sick, weak or unusually tired ๐Ÿค’
โ€ข A rapid pulse or fast heartbeat โค๏ธ

You can help reduce your risk by:
โ€ข Drinking plenty of water throughout the day ๐Ÿ’ง
โ€ข Staying in the shade where possible ๐ŸŒณ
โ€ข Avoiding strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day โ˜€๏ธ
โ€ข Wearing loose, light-coloured clothing ๐Ÿ‘•
โ€ข Checking on older relatives, neighbours and vulnerable people ๐Ÿ‘ฅ

Babies, young children, older adults and people with long-term health conditions can be particularly vulnerable during hot weather ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

If symptoms become severe, worsen, or do not improve, seek medical advice promptly ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿ’™

Ever wondered how many calories your body uses just to keep you alive? ๐Ÿ’™

Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the number of calories your body needs each day to carry out basic functions such as breathing, circulating blood, regulating temperature and supporting your organs ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿซ

Knowing your BMR can help you better understand your energy needs and can be useful if you're looking to manage your weight, improve your fitness or make healthier lifestyle choices ๐Ÿ‘

Your BMR is influenced by factors such as:
โ€ข age
โ€ข s*x
โ€ข height and weight
โ€ข muscle mass
โ€ข overall health ๐Ÿƒ

While BMR is only one part of the picture, understanding it can help you make more informed decisions about your nutrition and activity levels ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฅ—

Use the Patient Info BMR Calculator to find out more about your body's energy needs ๐Ÿ’ซ
