🏏 CHAMPIONS! OUGHTIBRIDGE WOMEN CELEBRATE LEAGUE TITLE 🏆
Oughtibridge Women and Girls Team 2 Softball are celebrating after being crowned South Yorkshire 3rd West Division champions – and they hope their success will encourage even more women and girls to pick up a bat!
🎉 It’s been a season of hard work, big wins, new friendships and growing confidence, with memorable victories against local sides including Stocksbridge, Thorncliffe, Wentworth and Worsborough.
But for this team, it’s about much more than winning matches.
The squad brings together women of different ages, backgrounds and cricketing experience. Some had never played cricket before, while others have returned to the sport after years away.
The club says its welcoming atmosphere has also attracted new players from neighbouring areas.
👏 Captain Sue Cockbill-Black has played a key role in creating that inclusive environment, supporting players to improve while ensuring everyone feels valued.
And there’s plenty of inspiration for the younger generation too, with junior player Izzy now representing South Yorkshire – something the whole team is incredibly proud of.
❤️ Away from the pitch, the friendships and social side of the team have become just as important, with training sessions, outings and plenty of laughter helping create a real community.

You don't need to be sporty, experienced or even know the rules. Softball cricket offers a relaxed way to learn, have fun, get active and meet new people.
