Rest isn't something you have to earn 😴

We live in a culture that treats busyness as a badge of honour and rest as something you only get once everything else is done. But your mind and body don't work on a to do list.

You need rest to actually function well, it's not just a reward for functioning well already.

A message from us on World Su***de Prevention Day 💛

At the Hub we are not worried about using the word su***de. We don’t feel awkward about asking someone directly if they’re suicidal. We say it because we know that being the one to say it first, when you’re feeling that way, can feel impossible.

You don’t need to be worried about upsetting us, scaring us or making us feel uncomfortable. We are glad whenever someone comes to us in these times and admits what they are going through because that proves that there is hope and room for change.

If you are reading this and are currently feeling like you don’t want to be here anymore - whatever that looks like for you - we have a place for you where you can offload some of that weight and you will not be dismissed, judged or invalidated.

*Please note that we can not offer support via this page and if you are in immediate danger then you need to call 999 or attend your nearest A&E straight away

Finding the conversations difficult this month? 🧠

Whilst raising awareness and reducing stigma about anything to do with mental health will always be something we champion at the Hub, we understand that for those directly impacted by things like su***de, the discussions can hit close to home.

If there is any potential for you to feel drained, triggered or a bit more sensitive than usual then here are some tips:

🩷 Block certain words, hashtags or topics from appearing on your social media feed

💙 Make a list of enjoyable activities that you can go to as an act of self-care and temporary escapism

🩷 Let those around you know that this impacts you and you might require some extra care & support

💙 Create a safety plan for if you do get triggered (this is something we can help with at the Hub!)

🩷 Remind yourself that you and your recovery has to be No1 and you do not have to add to the conversations, share your story or be an advocate if this is not going to be beneficial to YOU

September is Su***de Prevention Month 💜

The Hub is here to support anybody who is feeling suicidal or feels their mental health is deteriorating and is worried about becoming suicidal.

Some of the recovery workers at the Hub have lived experience of su***de in one way or another and we know that IT IS POSSIBLE for things to get better, even if it takes some time.

It’s complex, and we appreciate these conversations can be difficult to have and so will take things at your pace with no pressure or judgement.

You don’t have to suffer alone and this doesn’t have to be your way of life forever.

For a lot of people who come to the Hub, it is their first time voicing out loud how they are feeling. We always champion this brave move and aim to provide a safe and patient space that leaves the individual feeling glad that they took that step 💪🏽❤️‍🩹

Talking about how you're feeling isn't always easy, but it's one of the strongest things you can do.

Whether it's a quiet conversation with someone you trust or reaching out for professional support, you don't have to carry it alone.

Support is out there, and it starts with a conversation.

Important information about our group sessions📢

We’d like to make all of our clients aware that throughout September, there will be no group activities running at the Hub.

We will be using the time to revamp our space, plan new activities, and refine our group guidelines!

Please be assured that the groups are not gone for good, we will be back up and running in October and are looking forward to seeing you there 🤩

We will post the October timetable here and on our website in the next few weeks so do keep an eye out for that.

The Hub will remain open as normal for 1-1s should you require any mental health support 🩷💙
