'Contact Counselling', founded in 2007, is a Sheffield-based service which aims to provide an affordable counselling service by linking its fees to client income levels. Appointments are available in the daytime and evenings. 'Contact Counselling' is an organisation of five counsellors who are able to offer approx. 30 hours of counselling sessions per week between them. Sessions last 50 mins and are to be attended on a weekly basis. The number of sessions will depend upon the issues clients bring. All counsellors are members of an appropriate professional body and abide by recognised codes of ethics and confidentiality.
'Contact Counselling' offers humanistic counselling, meaning that understanding and accepting clients is fundamental to the way in which we work. We value every person's individuality and experience, irrespective of background or social circumstances. We also believe that the relationship between client and counsellor is central to a client's experience of counselling.
Counselling can help a client to explore many different issues including; relationship and family problems, anxiety, stress, depression, low self-esteem, traumatic experiences, childhood abuse, self-harm, eating disorder or weight issues, dealing with anger, loss and bereavement, obsessional thoughts, work or study problems and sense of identity.
'Contact Counselling' offers a safe, caring and supportive setting in which to explore things clients may find difficult to talk about with anyone else. It provides a space in which a client can express feelings, understand them better and reflect upon matters of concern. Counsellors offer time, trust, respect and honesty.
Please note that this page is a first-stop point for information only. Should you wish to obtain additional information, please visit the website at http://contactcounsellingsheffield.webs.com, which provides details of our fee scale and comprehensive information about how 'Contact Counselling' works. After reading all of this information and if you accept our policy and working practice, should you wish to make a referral, please call us on 07546911402. You will be asked to leave a message on the voicemail which is checked two or three times per week. The telephone is not manned. Please leave details of your enquiry, when it would be best for us to call you back and whether or not it is all right for us to leave a message. Please be aware that, due to our affordability, there is high demand for our service. Should you wish to engage in counselling immediately, we advise that you seek an alternative service, as it is highly probably that we shall not be able to offer you an appointment with a counsellor straight away. As we offer open-ended, as opposed to short-term, counselling to our clients, please be prepared for the possibility of being on our waiting list for quite some time. Clients will be appointed a counsellor in priority order; priority being how long they have been on the waiting list. We adhere strictly to this policy. If you find yourself in a crisis situation, please contact a Helpline such as The Samaritans on 116 123.
Please note that this is neither a free service nor do we offer any other kind of mental health provision or support. We see our clients at specific venues. Home visits are not possible.
As the name suggests, Contact Affordable Counselling aims to provide counselling on a more affordable basis. (This is not a free service).
