It is Myopia Awareness Week!
As more of us spend time on screen and indoors, Myopia is becoming increasingly common-especially in children and teenagers.
Good news is, there are simple everyday habits that can help slow down the progression of Myopia.
Our Top Tips for managing Myopia:
1. Follow the 20-20 rule.
Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and look at something 20 feet away. It is a small habit that gives your eyesa much needed reset during screen time.
2. Get outdoors daily.
Aim for at least 90 minutes of outdoor time each day. Natural light and focusing at a distance help reduce eye strain and may slow Myopia progression in children.
3. Reduce screen time.
Limit recreational screen use where possible, especially before bed.
4. Book regular eye exams.
Keeping up with routine eye checks helps us monitor any changes and recommend suitable treatments,including Myopia control lenses or other tailored options.
