🔥 Ever wondered what the heat does to a sauna stove grate over time?

It takes an absolute beating.

Every time the stove is fired, the grate is exposed to extreme temperatures, followed by cooling down again once the fire goes out. Over hundreds of burns, this repeated heating and cooling can cause the metal to:

• Warp and bend
• Become brittle and flaky
• Thin out over time
• Crack around the edges
• Eventually burn through completely

In a busy wood-fired sauna, the grate can go through thousands of heat cycles — so it’s a genuine wear-and-tear component of the stove.

🔥 It’s a good reminder that even the parts you don’t normally see inside a sauna stove need checking and maintaining.

The fire might look simple, but there’s a lot going on inside that stove!

As someone who’s changed careers three times already—including starting ScandiBox Saunas—I know just how exciting, daunting, and rewarding it can be to take the leap into self-employment.

Today marks the start of my wife’s new chapter as she launches The Bake Box after 8 years as an NHS physiotherapist. I’m so incredibly proud of everything she’s achieved to get to this point. ❤️
