I get it when you feel like everything is against you and your health and fitness is the last priority.

Our lives are so busy and it's easy to get caught up in work, family and social life only to notice the detrimental effect it's having on your mental and physical health.

As a solo parent raising 2 young boys to now teens with no outside support I had to figure out a way to still take care of me as well.

You have probably already tried various workouts with some limited success or tackled that famed diet that everyone boasts about, except it's making you miserable.

Being 45 shouldn't be a life sentence to accepting a body that you don't recognise anymore, neither should that be applicable to any age or stage in life.

🤔 Do you have to be ripped to be fit? Absolutely not.

😊 Do you want to feel stronger, more confident and happier in your body and mind? Probably

We can all blame any number of circumstances why we aren't where we wish we were but if you are ready to take ownership of your health and fitness then you are ready to take the next step out of your comfort zone

I have worked with clients managing chronic health conditions to mums and dads through to athletes and in every case it wasn't their circumstances it was their mindset to decide they couldn't continue moving through life not taking care of themselves knowing the long term outcome if they did nothing.

As a solo mum of 2, running my own business, my house, working with a long term back injury from a car crash and fitting in fitness, I get it when it comes to pain, lack of time and feeling rushed when it comes to good food choices.

💪So, I build small sustainable goals with clients to make what they learn, stick, become consistent and over time build a body they love in a sustainable way for life.

but the people you are surrounded by are influenced by the person you are becoming.

As a parent, friend, family member or colleague, your choices can inspire another to choose themselves, their health and their happiness.

When they see you consistently turn up for yourself whether you're happy or sad, you are showing them what is possible in not just the good times but in times of adversity.

No perfect split.
No single method.
No one body type that movement belongs to.

Some days it’s strength.
Some days it’s mobility, running, boxing, walking,
stretching, swimming or simply moving because your body needs it.

Be brave and try something out of your comfort zone, you might just like it.

Train for your body

Your mind.
Your energy.

Because the routine you actually enjoy and can sustain will see you achieve your goals rather than forcing yourself into someone else’s version of fitness. ✨

The power of a simple walk is so downplayed. But every time you get out for a walk, you are giving your mind and body a chance to reset:

Stop overcomplicating fitness.

Instead of training in tandem.....

Mild imbalances are normal but when you start to notice a distinct disengagement of muscles down one side; lack of strength/power or overdevelopment in one side.

🏋‍♂️Consider choosing to integrate unilateral work specifically to that weaker, less developed or disengaged side is paramount to bring the body back to better uniformity/balance, improved posture and core stability. And don't panic that you aren't training your stronger side during unilateral work....your body is neurologically cross educating the other side.

🖕These 6 unilateral back exercises are just some examples.

The biggest factor whether you train unilaterally or in tandem is really understanding what you are engaging. If you are just going through the motions whilst not actually listening to your body or being aware of the muscles you are supposed to be working you may well be not truly getting the most from your training.

To appreciate the good in life we have to go through challenging times.

That is what life is about.

It's not simple, comfortable or painless.

Everything that happens in life has a lesson.

Some lessons are for growth, whether as proof of your resilience or to open your heart; expand your mind or to understand the fragility and impermanance of things.

But in many ways it is trying to show you where you still need to heal the inner parts of yourself you have tried to ignore and it's only through the tears, anger, frustration and silence that you will ever find your way through.

And yes, you will repeat this many many times in your life.

❤️‍🩹Not because you are broken.

But because that is how life works, to break you and shape you into becoming an even better version of who you are when you are willing to learn.

So if you are going through a difficult time right now.

Know that it's okay that you're not okay. 🫂

But remember all the other times you got through the not okay-ness and then better things came your way.

It's easy to get caught up in the worst of things (and that sneaky algorithm that likes to remind you of how sad you should be). To overthink, to feel lost in life, to want to run away. But on the harder days, remember the good within your life, appreciate all that you have experienced, never regret and take joy in the smallest of things within your day.
