Action First Physiotherapy at the Old Girls' School

Action First Physiotherapy at the Old Girls' School Action First Physiotherapy is a thriving sports clinic run out of The Old Girls' school Community Ce We will always try to accommodate you where possible.

With all the uncertainty at the moment around Covid-19 we just wanted to remind everyone of the steps we have taken to keep our patients and staff as safe as possible.
1- We have a one way entry and exit system
2- Everyone is asked to sanitize their hands on entry to the room
3- You will be asked to wait outside in the carpark (this is to limit contact with others)
4- Whilst in the clinic you wi

ll be required to wear a mask (unless you are exempt)
5- During your appointment the physio will wear full PPE
7- Where possible windows will be left open for ventilation
8- treatment rooms, beds, chairs, doors etc will be wiped down after every appointment.
9- Payment prior to appointment is preferred either by BACS or debit card over the phone but payment on the day by card or cash is accepted.
10-You will exit through the same door you entered

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has visited recently for their understanding and their patience in adhering to our policy. If you are still worried about attending clinic please give reception a call and we can discuss various options. Some days are quieter then others, we could arrange a first or last appointment to limit the chance of crossing paths with others and there is also the option of home visit or remote video consultations.

If you have been into our Snaith clinic over the past few months you will have noticed we have been having a bit of a refresh with decorating , new flooring and new signage. We also had a new meet the team board added. This made us think, not everyone attends our Snaith clinic so we thought we would do a weekly meet the team section on our page to introduce you to everyone who works with us.
Look out for our new Meet the team Monday posts!

The meet the team board was designed by Iris Graphics Ltd

Have you got pain in the soles of your feet? Especially first thing in the morning and when weight bearing for periods of time? Is it stopping you from taking part in your daily routine?
Physiotherapy can help ease the symptoms and allow healing to occur.
Booking a physiotherapy assessment as a first point of contact is a step in the right direction!
Traditional physiotherapy methods such as stretching, strengthening, hands on interventions and advice may be enough to resolve your pain.
If your problem has been lingering for more than 3 months, shockwave therapy is an alternative option, especially if first line treatments haven't worked.
Shockwave therapy helps plantar fasciitis by stimulating healing in damaged tissue, increasing blood flow, and reducing pain signals.
šŸ’„ How Shockwave Therapy Works
Stimulates tissue repair: High‑energy sound waves are directed into the heel, which encourages the plantar fascia to heal by increasing cellular activity.
Improves blood flow: The acoustic energy boosts circulation in the area, helping the body repair chronic inflammation.
Reduces pain signalling: Shockwaves disrupt nerve activity that sends pain signals, often giving relief after a 3-6 sessions.
Breaks down scar tissue: Long‑term plantar fasciitis can cause thickened, stiff tissue; shockwave helps remodel it over time.
Non‑invasive alternative to surgery: No injections, no anaesthetic, and minimal downtime.
🦶 Why It’s Used for Plantar Fasciitis
Chronic cases: lasted for 3-6 months + and hasn’t improved with stretching, orthotics, or rest.
Targets the root cause: Instead of masking pain, it encourages the fascia to heal at the tissue level.
Quick sessions: Usually 3–4 sessions, about 20–30 minutes each.
āš ļø Things to Keep in Mind
Not instant relief: Improvement often builds over weeks as tissue heals.
Mild soreness is common: Some people feel temporary discomfort after treatment.
Success rates are encouraging: Many patients report reduced pain and better function, especially in chronic cases.

Shockwave Therapy is an evidence based treatment that involves passing low energy pressure waves into damaged tissues to increase blood flow.

The summer holiday season is upon us and while it is most welcome, it can also come with its problems. When we are on holiday we tend to do activities that we don't normally do. Be it sitting on a long haul flight or taking part in activities like snorkelling, Jet skiing, paragliding etc. When we aren't used to doing certain physical movements it can end up causing a range of MSK problems.
If you are planning an active holiday why not book in for some advice and a pre holiday massage to get those muscles prepared?
