ManHealth Men Empowering New Direction have taken over the content of this page. MEND peer support groups save lives.

ManHealth is a Community Interest Company who aim to create a network of male peer support groups across County Durham and the United Kingdom for men who are struggling with their mental and physical health. The groups are open to men affected by mental and physical ill health to share friendship and support over a common condition. All ManHealth groups are ran by men with a lived experience of me

Alfie and Olly have spent a lot of time and effort organising something truly meaningful — a full 90‑minute, 11‑a‑side football match with managers, food stands open all day, and a donation box at the entrance.

They’ve created this event in memory of Alfie’s sister, who tragically died by su***de just three months ago. Their goal is simple but powerful: to turn heartbreak into purpose and raise as much money as possible for mental health support.

This day means everything to them, and they’re hoping the whole community will come together to make it unforgettable.

OPEN MINDS UNITED vs MIND OVER MATTER FC
16th August – 10AM Kick Off
Shildon Football Stadium
Free Entry – Everyone Welcome

There’ll be food stands open throughout the day, a donation box at the entrance, and a proper full match — 90 minutes, 11‑a‑side, with managers on both teams.

This isn’t just a football match.
It’s a message.
It’s a reminder.
It’s a chance to stand together, break the stigma, and show that mental health matters.

Please share this, bring your friends and family, and help Alfie and Olly get the turnout this day deserves. Every donation and every person who shows up makes a real difference.

He has only gone and done it. Despite suffering a broken hand after being hit by a car martin.orton has ridden 1000 miles from Lands End to John o’ Groats in 10 days. Martin did this ride to honour his beloved Grandfather who sadly took his own life last year and to help raise awareness of male su***de and the work of MEND. Still time to donate. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/martin-orton-1?utm_medium=FA&utm_source=OF&fbclid=IwdGRjcATOEtlwZG9mBWZkaWQWULAJ4RklRbN06pXGBTYuv51m73yr9WV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkCjY2Mjg1NjgzNzkAAR5fOk5WjhKqjOtzSdoBXwMjQyGVyCv83n6wr9y6bERLqv3h5Fg9vvztwXOCyw_aem_VezTy6XWWhkA062KutxoFQ
