The B4397 from Baschurch to Marton is to be surface dressed between 30 April and 15 May.

🚧 Work will be carried out in two phases as follows, when the road will be closed from 9.30am to 4pm each day.

ā–¶ļø 30 April to 1 May – Road closure for surface dressing
ā–¶ļø 15 May – Road closure for white lining

During the closures access to the work areas will be maintained for the following:

- Residents living within the closure, when safe to do so.
- Businesses located within the closure, when safe to do so.
- Emergency vehicles.
- Essential highway personnel.
- Utility or public service vehicles when safe to do so.

āš ļø For all other traffic a signed diversion will be place. Depending on their vehicle type, road users may be able to choose an alternative diversion route.

ā„¹ļø Surface dressing is a quick, efficient and cost-effective way of preventing potholes, maintaining skid-resistance and waterproofing road surfaces. It forms a major part of the council’s annual road maintenance programme and is being carried out alongside other preventative and reactive maintenance work.

Please see the following advice in relation to the meningitis outbreak in Kent -

Meningitis B Vaccine is given to babies - the programme started in 2015 meaning older teens have not had the jab. This is available privately, a course of two doses cost approximately £200, individuals will need to source and pay for it themselves.
Meningitis ACWY Vaccine is given to teenagers usually at year nine through the school vaccination programme.

Dear patients. As you are aware, we are expecting considerable snow this evening. The weather forecasts indicate that the snow will turn to rain overnight but of course, we don't know how much snow we will get nor what impact subsequent rainfall will have.

As travel conditions may be hazardous for patients and for practice staff we want to let you know now that on Friday morning we may have to contact you to change face-to-face appointments to telephone consultations where appropriate. Also as many of the clinical team commute to Baschurch and may possibly be affected by travel disruption, we may have to rearrange your appointment.

We will contact patients directly on Friday morning if appointments are affected. If you do not hear from us please attend as normal if it is safe for you to do so. If you wish to cancel your appointment please do so as early as possible but please bear with us as our phone lines are likely to be busy .

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these exceptional weather conditions.

Nick Storey

We have been made aware that someone is phoning patients from a mobile phone claiming that they are working for ā€˜national health services’ asking for patient details etc. Please be aware that this is a scam and do not give out any personal information before checking that the caller is legitimate.
