Meet our staff: Clinical Lead for Speech and Language Therapy in Spinal Cord Injury π¬
Meet Cassandra. Employed by SaTH and based at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, she delivers specialist assessment, diagnosis and intervention for adults with complex communication, swallowing and voice needs.
"What I love most about being a speech therapist in spinal cord injury rehabilitation is helping people regain some of the everyday functions that many of us take for granted, particularly communication, voice and eating and drinking - these are fundamental parts of who we are.
After a life-changing injury, people can face challenges that affect not only their physical health but also their ability to connect with others and express themselves.
I feel privileged to support patients through that journey, Whether it's helping someone regain confidence in their communication, making eating and drinking safer or moving from tube feeding to oral intake, or supporting them to participate in conversations with family and friends, every achievement feels meaningful.
I love working alongside patients as they adapt, rebuild, and discover what they're capable of. Their resilience is inspiring and being part of a team that helps people regain independence and quality of life is incredibly rewarding. That's why I love what I do."
Cassandra is currently looking for a qualified Speech and Language Therapist to work alongside her and help shape the ongoing development of a specialist speech and language therapy service within a well-established and nationally recognised multi-disciplinary team.
