Last week, we supported the family of a gentleman who had a real passion for military history and restoring old military vehicles.

To honour that passion, a number of beautifully restored military vehicles accompanied him on his final journey.

When Sarah was asked if we could provide a horse to walk in front of the hearse at the crematorium, the answer was, of course, 𝐲𝐞𝐬.

The next step was working out how we could make this special request happen. Thankfully, we had James Painter on hand, who kindly attended with his beautiful horse, Daisy. Together, they walked in front of the hearse as the lady made her final journey, at the crematorium.

Some fathers and step-fathers are here to hug, laugh with, and thank in person. Others live on in our stories, our habits, and the little pieces of ourselves they helped shape.

Gone doesn’t mean forgotten. Loved then, loved now, loved always. Today is for every dad — the ones we can hold, and the ones we hold in our hearts.

𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞, 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞.

Today, we pause to honour the bravery, sacrifice, and courage of those who landed on the beaches of Normandy 82 years ago. Their actions shaped the world we live in, and their legacy lives on in the freedoms we enjoy today.

We also remember the families who continue to carry these stories in their hearts.

Our premise, Frank Painter & Sons, has its own wartime history. In 1939, much of the premises was occupied by the Air Ministry and transformed into a secret satellite factory producing Spitfire wings — a small but important contribution to the war effort.

We recently supported a family with a horse‑drawn carriage, offering a gentle and traditional way for their loved one to make their final journey.

The way each family chooses to say goodbye is deeply personal, and every choice is held with warmth and respect.

Today we celebrate England’s patron saint, a symbol of courage and hope, whilst also honouring the values of Bravery, Compassion and Service.

St George’s Day is also a moment to pause, reflect, and hold close the memories of those we miss. Their stories, their love and the mark they leave on our lives to guide us forward.

Last week, Alan and James were taken, by Superior UK, to visit the Pilato factory in Italy, where our new hearse and limousine is currently being built.

It was incredible to see the skill, precision, and craftsmanship that goes into creating these vehicles.

Every detail is carefully considered, and it’s a privilege to witness the process behind something so important to the families we serve.

We’re very much looking forward to receiving our new vehicles soon and continuing to provide the highest standards of care and professionalism for our community.
