Had a fantastic time today working alongside younger adults at the Town Foundation Centre, delivering an interactive session all about careers in care 👏

We wanted to give a real insight into what working in care looks like, so we brought some hands-on learning into the session, including:

🩺 Catheter equipment (with a pretend urine bag made from orange squash! 😄)
💊 Medication packs
📱 Virtual care technology
🩹 Stoma bags and continence products
📖 A comic strip showing a day in the life of a care worker

We also talked through the many opportunities a career in care can offer. Starting in care can lead to so many different pathways from frontline care roles to senior positions, specialist roles, training, leadership, nursing, and beyond.

It was a brilliant opportunity to challenge perceptions, answer questions, and show that care is so much more than just a job it’s a rewarding career with real purpose, progression, and the chance to make a difference every single day 💙

🍎 Learning to Support Healthy Eating on a Budget

Our Registered Manager Mel recently attended a fantastic “Nutrition on a Budget” training session delivered through Partners in Care, in collaboration with Shrewsbury College.

The session provided valuable insight into how healthy eating can be achievable and affordable, with practical ideas around meal planning, reducing food waste, making nutritious low-cost choices, and supporting individuals who may face barriers to accessing healthy food.

As community care workers, nutrition plays an important part in the wellbeing of the people we support. From noticing changes in appetite to encouraging healthy habits and promoting independence at home, this learning helps us continue providing person-centred care that makes a real difference.

A great reminder that eating well doesn’t have to cost a fortune 💚

🤝 Myth 3: “Community care is only for older people”

Reality:

It spans all ages children with disabilities, adults with mental health needs, people recovering from surgery, and more. Community care is about needs, not age.

🏥 Myth 2: “Hospitals are always better than community-based care”

Reality:

Hospitals are essential for acute care, but they’re not always the best place for recovery or long-term support.

Many people heal faster and feel better when cared for at home or in familiar environments. Community care can reduce hospital admissions and improve quality of life especially for chronic conditions.

🧠 Myth 1: “Community care just means informal help it’s not real healthcare”

Reality:

Community care can absolutely be structured, skilled, and evidence-based. It often includes trained professionals (like nurses, social workers, and community health workers) alongside volunteers. In places like the NHS, community care is a formal part of the system not an afterthought.

From April 2025 to the beginning of April 2026, our team carried out 43,885 visits within our community.

Behind that number are real moments supporting someone to start their day, providing comfort and reassurance, helping people maintain independence, and being a consistent, trusted presence in their lives.

Social care isn’t just about tasks it’s about people. It’s about dignity, compassion, and the small, everyday actions that make a big difference.

We’re incredibly proud of the commitment our staff show day in, day out. The impact of this work reaches far beyond what can be measured, but every single visit represents time, care, and genuine human connection.

Thank you to our amazing team for everything you do, and to the individuals and families who trust us to be part of their lives.

🌍 Celebrating Social Care & Sustainability

In the month of March, our incredible non-driving staff covered over 1,800 miles supporting people in our community 💙

By choosing not to drive, they helped prevent approximately 500 kg of CO₂ emissions that’s half a tonne of carbon saved in just one month!

To put that into perspective, that’s the same as:

🌳 What 20+ trees absorb in a year
🏡 Around 6–8 weeks of a typical home’s electricity use

Small actions, big impact. Proud of our team for making a difference not just in people’s lives, but for the planet too 🌱

Really proud to share the impact of our recent volunteering efforts 👏

Our amazing volunteers have dedicated countless hours supporting individuals on their journey into employment. While not in care roles, their contribution in the office has been invaluable providing hands-on support, guidance, and encouragement where it’s needed most.

By helping with day-to-day tasks, building confidence, and developing practical skills, they’re playing a key role in improving employability and opening doors to new opportunities.
